The invention relates to a sleeping means which can be moved between the storage and in-use conditions. The sleeping means typically comprise a deformable mattress which is inflatable and which can be located within with an envelope formed of sheet material and, attached to the sheet material is a cover portion which, with the sheet material of the mattress defines a sleeping area into which a person can move. The cover portion can be permanently attached to the sleeping means but further edges of the same can be selectively attached using zips or other fastening means. The shell (2, 12) has at least one outlet (32) provided, by means of which a reduction of the gas volume in the thermal-insulating device is possible. The insulating power of the thermal-insulating device can thus be varied, in particular reduced, by, for example, a factor of 10, by means of a considerable volume reduction. An item of clothing can thus be produced which may have thermal-insulation properties, optimised to suit the wearers activities with differing levels of physical exertion.

The present invention relates to a multi-cell tube capable of simultaneously opening and closing a tube having a plurality of separate cells or chambers and a method for efficiently manufacturing the multi-cell tube. A primary object of the present invention is to manufacture a multi-cell tube having two or more cells, which are repeatedly formed in longitudinal and circumferential directions of the tube, in such a manner that fluid can be separately or simultaneously let into and/or out of the respective cells and the respective cells can be individually kept airtight. The multi-cell tube of the present invention for achieving the object comprises a cell unit 10 including a plurality of cells 11 which are arranged in one direction of the tube and have corresponding inlets 12 formed in a direction intersecting with the direction in which the cells are arranged; a supply tube unit 20 which has an opening/closing valve 21 at any one side end thereof and communicates with the inlets 12 of all the cells 11 in a state where the supply tube unit is close to the cells; and an operating tube unit 30, made of inflatable material (e,g. rubber, plastics or the like), which is installed within the supply tube unit 20, is close to the inlets 12 and the cells 11, and has an opening/closing valve 31 at any one side end thereof.

The pillow (2) is adapted for interpositioning between a patient's head and a head rest (24) and supports the neck (23) and sides of the patient's head. The inflation device (3) includes a pump (4) and control means, such as a timer, for controlling the inflation and the deflation of the pillow (2) through a repetitive cycle utilising two fluid inputs to the volumes of the pillow. Such movement of the patient's occiput (22) gently moves the patient's neck (23) to alleviate or prevent pain.
