The apparatus also includes a gas input in fluid communication with the absorption column for receiving a gas mixture, and a liquid input is in fluid communication with the absorption column for receiving a liquid mixture. A liquid-liquid separator is arranged below the absorption column with respect to gravity. The gas input is arranged below the single stage component. The liquid input is arranged above the single stage component and below the multiple stage component. A method is described for using the apparatus to remove DME from gas and liquid mixtures.

The present invention provides a method for obtaining reduced coenzyme Q 10 which is useful as an ingredient in foods, functional nutritive foods, specific health foods, nutritional supplements, nutrients, drinks, feeds, cosmetics, medicines, remedies, preventive drugs, etc. suited for a commercial scale production in high quality and efficiently. The high-quality oily reduced coenzyme Q 10 which has low viscosity and thereby easily handled may be produced by separating an aqueous phase from the reaction mixture obtainable by oily reacting oxidized coenzyme Q 10 with a reducing agent in water, or by distilling off an coexisting organic solvent at or above the melting temperature of reduced coenzyme Q 10 in concentrating the organic phase containing reduced coenzyme Q 10 . Moreover, a solution or slurry of reduced coenzyme Q 10 may be obtained by adding a desired solvent to the obtained oily product, or a solid of reduced coenzyme Q 10 may be produced by contacting the oily product with a seed crystal.

The application relates to a process which comprises:
A) forming a reaction product composition comprising arylcarboxylic acid or substituted arylcarboxylic acid in a polar organic solvent medium by palladium-catalyzed hydrocarboxylation of an arylolefin or substituted arylolefin in a liquid medium comprising polar organic solvent, water, HCl, and at least one ether; B) mixing with said reaction product composition an aqueous solution of inorganic base to form a mixture comprising an aqueous phase containing dissolved inorganic salt of said arylcarboxylic acid or substituted arylcarboxylic, and before and/or during and/or after such mixing, distilling a substantial portion of the ether from the reaction mixture, such that a mixture of residual organic phase and such aqueous phase remain as a distillation residue; C) separating the phases from each other; D) distilling residual organic impurities from the aqueous phase and providing an aqueous solution having a concentration in the range of 10 and 35 wt%, by, if necessary, adjusting the concentration of such aqueous solution by removal therefrom or addition thereto of water; E) washing the aqueous solution with non-polar organic solvent at least twice; F) mixing non-oxidizing mineral acid with the aqueous phase in the presence of non-polar liquid solvent to form (i) an organic phase composed of a solution of arylcarboxylic acid or substituted arylcarboxylic acid in non-polar liquid organic solvent and (ii) an aqueous phase; G) separating the phases from each other; and H) crystallizing arylcarboxylic acid or substituted arylcarboxylic acid from organic solvent.

Beim neuen Verfahren zur Reinigung eines Alkylenoxid-Adduktes, das unter Verwendung von halogenhaltigen Metallkatalysatoren hergestellt worden ist und Halogen enthaltende Verbindungen sowie Metalle als Verunreinigung enthält, wird das zu reinigende Alkylenoxid-Addukt mit Alkalimetallverbindung in Überschuß behandelt und die erhaltene alkalische Mischung mit einer Säure auf einen pH-Wert von höchstens 7 eingestellt, mit der Maßgabe, daß in der nun vorliegenden Produktmischung eine Wassermenge von mindestens 0,1 Gew.-%, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Produktes, anwesend ist. Diese Produktmischung wird von Wasser und anderen Lösungsmitteln befreit, wobei die im Alkylenoxid-Addukt unlöslichen Salze grob-kristallin ausfallen und zur Gewinnung des angestrebten reinen Alkylenoxid-Adduktes leicht abgetrennt werden können.
