摘要:
Image developing apparatus, for developing a latent electrostatic image, includes a container (12), for holding a supply of toner particles (D), and a developing roller (18) made of an electrically-conductive elastomeric material and supported for rotation in contact with toner particles in the container so as to entrain a layer of such particles and carry them to a location at which the roller engages a surface bearing such an image. A blade member (22) is pressed against the developing roller for regulating the thickness of the said layer, and respective bias voltages are applied to the developing roller and to the blade member for ensuring that the toner particles of the said layer are electrically charged in a desired manner and/or for preventing electrostatic adhesion of such particles to the blade member. Danger of localised damage due to electrical current flow between the blade member and the developing roller, prior to attainment of its normal speed of rotation, is reduced by delaying application of the bias voltages for a preset period of time after initiation of the said rotation. When such rotation is to be stopped, by termination of a drive signal (DS) maintaining that rotation, the application of the bias voltage to the blade member is terminated at a first instant. The drive signal is then terminated at a second instant, a predetermined short period of time after the said first instant, the application of the bias voltage to the developing roller being maintained until the said second instant, thereby to encourage separation of toner particles from the roller during that predetermined short period.

An image forming method is to arrange a developing agent holder for holding one component developing agent layer arranged to contact with a latent image holder, and to develop certain latent image on the latent image holder and to simultaneously clean up the developing agent adhering to the surface of non-latent image area on the latent image holder, wherein the cleaning up is carried out under the condition expressed by the following formula: 0.5≦ (Vd/Vp) · m ≦ 3.0 wherein the moving speed of the developing agent holder is defined as Vd, the moving speed of the surface of the latent image holder is defined as Vp and the developing agent adhering density is defined as m (mg/cm²), or the amount of the remained toner after transferring remaining on the latent image phase of the latent image holder is set less than 0.35 mg/cm². Further, an image forming device is provided with a remained toner uniforming means for disturbing and uniforming the remained toner remaining on the latent image phase of the latent image holder arranged to be pressed or contacted to the latent image holder for being applied to the above mentioned image forming method. Therefore, the satisfactory image having an excellent quality without ghost and fogging can be always obtained, and the satisfactory image can be obtained under the high humidity environment condition.

This invention relates to a developing apparatus, used in an electrophotographic system or an electrographic system for converting an electrostatic image formed on a sensitive material or a dielectric material into a visible image with a one-component developing agent formed solely of a non-magnetic toner (14). The developing apparatus has a carrier roll (11) serving as a movable developing agent carrier which supplies the developing agent to an electrostatic latent image. An elastic coating member (12) presses against the surface of the carrier roll (11) and is supported at one end thereof. The elastic coating member (12) is so directed that its free end is directed opposite the direction of movement of the carrier roll (11).

Developing a xerographic toner image without the use of carrier beads is carried out by means of an applicator roller which transfers toner from a trough towards the image bearing medium via a scraper element mounted at the exit opening of the trough. An exact regulation of the amount of toner which is transferred in this way may be carried out by providing a DC-voltage between the transfer roller and the scraper.
