The apparent luminance of mixtures of diffusely-­reflected additive primaries (RGB) is altered by the introduction of zero (or low) light intervals. In one type of structure the intervals of darkness lie between colored regions as opaque pigments on essentially openwork structures. In a second type, the intervals of darkness are integrated between rapid successions of colored regions. In a third type the intervals of darkness are also integrated between rapid successions of colored regions but the domains of the primaries are first configured as openwork structures. When viewed under incidental white light, the objects exhibit additive primaries by diffuse reflection to stimulate sensations of secondary colors-magenta, cyan, and yellow-and tertiary colors.

The craft paint material can form discrete beads (14) placed closely together without running together, yet retain sufficient fluidity to settle into smooth, substantially uniform beads (14). A fine tip applicator (150) applies the craft paint material to each geometric shape.
