    The wires (8) are guided by a front end guide (6) disposed in a nose guide (18) in a nose (1). There are a number of ways disclosed of supporting the wires (8) in a resiliently oscillatable manner including a resiliently oscillatable nose guide, nose and a front end guide.

An impact dot printer for recording dots on a recording medium (21) comprises a printer wire (7) having a printer end, a guide member (8) for supporting the printing wire (7), an ink ribbon (20) which contains an ink composition comprising a dye and a solvent and is positioned between the printing end of the printing wire (7) and the recording medium (21). The printer also has a lubricant containg an oil component in the guide member (8) for permitting the printing wire (7) to be easily moved. The solubility of the solvent for the dye in the oil component of the lubricant is more than 400 g/100 g of oil.

    摘要: An impact dot printer that includes: a plurality of print wires (15); a front end guide (17) having guide holes (21,23) for guiding the print wires to predetermined print positions; and a guide holding member (16) for holding the front end guide. Such impact dot printers receive lubricant (18) in a portion behind the front end guide (17) and performs the printing operation by biasing an ink ribbon (3) located between the front end guide and a print sheet (4) while projecting the print wires (15) onto the print sheet (4) at appropriate timings.
    In such an impact dot printer, projections (20) are provided on a surface (17a) of the front end guide (17), the surface being on the print wire projecting side, and these projections form clearances between the surface of the front end guide (17a) and the ink ribbon (3), so that even if the lubricant (18) seeps from the guide holes (21,23), the lubricant does not come in direct contact with the ink ribbon, thus not ruining the ink ribbon to impair printing quality. A means (17b,22; 24,25; 26,27,31; 33-35; 36,37-42; 44) for preventing seepage of the lubricant through clearances between the front end guide and the guide holding member is also provided to further improve printing performance.

The printer is of the type comprising a printing platen (12) for a recording medium (17) and a carriage (11) transversely movable with respect to the printing platen and mounting the printing head. The head comprises a guide matrix (29) adjacent the platen and a plurality of wires or needles (28) guided by the matrix. The wires are capable of longitudinal movement and define on the recording medium printing dots having an area less than the nominal section Sn of the wires. Each wire comprises a front portion (72) of constant section (Sr) which is reduced with respect to the nominal section (Sn) and extends for a minimised length of between 0.5 and 4 times inclusive the diameter (Dr) of the reduced section. The guide matrix supports slidably a terminal portion of the wires comprising the nominal section and lodges with play the frontal portion having the reduced section.
