摘要: The present invention provides an erasable colored pencil lead composition comprising a colorant, one or more binder resins, a fibrillatable or fibrillated material, and a filler. The colored pencil lead of the present invention produces marks on paper, which are easily erased by ordinary pencil eraser. The mark made using the composition has a cohesive nature that assists in the removal from paper in sheet or film like sections by the use of an ordinary eraser without smearing or leaving a residue. In a preferred embodiment, the composition is free or substantially free of low melting waxes or wax like materials. Examples of suitable binder resins include high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, polypropylene, and high melting waxes. Examples of fibrillated or fibrillatable materials include fibrillatable or fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. The colored pencil lead composition may further include a lubricant. Examples of suitable lubricants include particulate lubricants such as micronized PTFE and non-particulate lubricants such as alkoxylated materials, e.g., polyethylene glycols. The present invention further provides a process for using the colored pencil lead composition. The present invention further provides a process for preparing the colored pencil lead of the present invention.

摘要: A washable dry erase coloring composition comprising an acid dye or polymeric dye colorant, a dye vehicle, a release agent, and an anionic dyeblocker. The dyeblocker additive may be an aromatic organic sulfonate and, preferably, is either a sulfonated naphthalene condensation product or a sulfonated phenol-formaldehyde condensation product. The dry erase coloring composition is suitable for use in marking on a whiteboard and enhances fugitivity from skin and fabrics. The dry erase coloring composition may optionally contain a film forming resin. More specifically, the invention is, in one preferred embodiment, a washable erasable whiteboard marker ink comprising an acid dye or polymeric dye, water, a film forming resin, a release agent and an aromatic organic sulfonate. In addition, the invention also includes a method of transferring an image from a whiteboard or non-porous surface to paper. This method comprises the steps of: (a) drawing an image on a whiteboard or non-porous surface with a washable coloring composition containing a dyeblocker; (b) applying a moistened paper to the image; (c) rubbing the moistened paper to transfer the image from the whiteboard to the paper; and (d) removing the paper.

摘要: A modeling dough comprising gelled poly(vinyl alcohol), water and a filler provides a dough resistant to flaking, cracking, and crumbling. In the disclosed invention, the poly(vinyl alcohol) resin is gelled, thereby providing a water-based resin system that is not sticky yet very ductile. Prior to drying, the dough also exhibits the properties of bounceability and the ability to pick up newsprint. After the dough is air-dried, the poly(vinyl alcohol) resin serves to bind the components into a solid, durable product. The filler accounts for a large portion of the volume of the dough, so the overall volume is not greatly affected by water loss upon drying. The dough is water-based and easy to wash from skin, carpets, and other surfaces. Dyes and pigments can be easily incorporated into the formula. The dried product is sandable, carveable and paintable.

摘要: Fluid dispensing instrument (10), such as a writing instrument, comprising a nib holder (12) and a nib (14). The nib holder comprises a generally cylindrical inner wall (32) disposed between its front (26) and back (28) ends, having an opening at one end to receive a nib. Stops (42,44,46) limit the depth of axial insertion of a nib through the opening. Barbs (36,38,40) prevent axial withdrawal of a nib from the opening. The nib comprises a fluid dispensing tip (90) defining its front end and a body (92) made at least in part of resilient material defining its back end. When the writing instrument is assembled, the body is engaged by and resiliently deformed between the barb means and stop means. Also, a method of permanently securing a nib in the nib holder of a fluid dispensing instrument, comprising the steps of inserting the nib in the nib holder through the opening until an abutment of the nib engages a stop of the nib holder, applying an insertion force sufficient to compress the resilient part of the nib and thus move at least part of the nib axially in the nib holder, and removing the insertion force. When the insertion force is removed, the compressed part of the nib relaxes and the part of the nib which previously moved axially in one direction moves axially the other way. When this happens the barb of the nib holder engages and digs into the moving part of the body. Some residual tension will remain in the body after the insertion force is removed if the barbs engage sufficiently to prevent further axial movement of the nib body before the compressed resilient portion of the nib is fully relaxed.
