Le présent procédé pour la coulée continue d'un métal comprend les opérations successives suivantes: a) on abaisse la température du métal jusqu'à une valeur comprise entre T f et (T f + 20°C) avant et/ou pendant la coulée dudit métal dans la lingotière, T f étant la température de liquidus dudit métal, par exemple en formant un jet creux s'écoulant le long d'un conduit refroidi; b) on soumet le produit coulé à un refroidissement intense au moyen d'une couche continue de liquide de refroidissement sous pression formée à la surface dudit produit coulé; et c) on applique ensuite audit produit coulé un refroidissement modéré au moyen d'un liquide de refroidissement provenant de préférence du refroidissement intense qui précède. On obtient ainsi des produits coulés en continu qui ne présentent pas de fissures internes ou superficielles.

In a preferred embodiment, the molten metal is transfered from a ladle 5 into 2 tundish 18, from where it flows into a vessel 1, equipped with an induction heating system 13 and heating coil 19, an agitator 3 driven by a shaft 4 and a water jacket 8 at the lower part. The molding device for continuous casting equipped with an agitator of the invention receives liquid-phase melt of a conductive material, and a solid-phase cast product is taken out from the molding device through the cooling of the melt. The molding device includes a casting mold and an agitator provided so as to correspond to the casting mold. The casting mold includes a casting space that includes an inlet and an outlet at a central portion of a substantially cylindrical side wall, and a magnetic field generation device receiving chamber that is formed in the side wall and is positioned outside the casting space. The casting mold receives the liquid-phase melt from the inlet into the casting space and discharges the solid-phase cast product from the outlet through the cooling in the casting space. The agitator includes a magnetic field generation device having an electrode unit that includes first and second electrodes supplying current to at least the liquid-phase melt present in the casting space, and a permanent magnet that applies a magnetic field to the liquid-phase melt. [Solution] The invention includes: applying a magnetic field to the raw material or the pre-product in a thickness direction by a magnetic field unit including permanent magnets; making alternating current flow in at least one of the raw material and molten metal of the pre-product so that the alternating current intersects the magnetic field in at least the front and the rear of a lengthwise direction of the magnetic field unit; and applying vibration to at least one of the raw material and the molten metal of the pre-product by an electromagnetic force generated due to the intersection to modify the molten metal and form the conductive metal sheet in which all of the molten metal is solidified.
