摘要： An apparatus having a two wire system for providing both power and data communication between a master controller 22 and at least one subcontroller 29, 30, 31. The master controller 22 can also be connected through the conductors 25, 26 to submaster controllers which in turn have subcontrollers connected thereto. The master controller 22 is capable of addressing each of the submaster controllers and subcontrollers 29, 30, 31 individually. A three voltage level system can be utilized to provide both power and addressing through the two conductors 25, 26. Data transmitted by the subcontrollers 29, 30, 31 can be analog and/or digital. A data entry device and an information display device can be connected to the master controller 22 in the same manner as other subcontrollers.

摘要： In a fire alarm system or the like, a plurality of terminals (T₁₁-T₄₄) such as fire detectors or repeaters are connected in plural groups (G1-G4) to a central receiver unit. During system polling of the groups individually those groups respond to the receiver unit which have a status change in any of its terminals. By subsequent point polling of the terminals individually only in that group which had responded during system polling, a responded terminlal is determined very quickly and reliably. Thus, information is collected and processed selectively from the terminal which responded during the point polling.

摘要： A data acquisition system, e.g. for an intrusion alarm system, has a plurality of distributed sensors 3 connected in sets to nodal units or concentrators 2. The concentrators are interrogated by clock pulses broadcast on a line 6 from a central control unit l and when each concentrator's address is reached it transmits back to the central unit over a line 7 a set of pulse signals the widths of which represent the voltage levels of the respective sensors 3 connected to it. Analogue sensor outputs may thus be transmitted. The sensor outputs are also preferably integrated at the concentrators 2, prior to pulse-conversion, over a period corresponding to a complete cycle of the local mains supply, thus to eliminate any mains interference.
