    摘要: An adaptive control system implements a back-projection technique to limit adaptation of adaptive parameters in the system so that system actuators are not driven beyond desired physical limitations. When the optimal controller solution lies outside of a desired region in the parameter space, chosen in accordance with the physical limitations of the system, adaptation is back-projected onto or near a smooth convex surface defining the edge of the desired region. Adaptation is preferably normalized to improve adaptation convergence. Back-projection is preferably compensated in accordance with adaptation normalization to facilitate convergence. To lessen computational burdens, adaptation and/or back-projection is accomplished in accordance with a time-sharing technique in which orthogonal components are separately processed. The technique can be implemented in tonal control systems, and in systems capable of controlling non-periodic disturbances.

    摘要: An active acoustic attenuation system prevents overdriving of the canceling output transducer or speaker (14) by shunting at least part of the correction signal (46) to a parallel shunt path (306) and away from the output transducer (14). Variable gains (308 and 310) are provided in the shunt path (306) and the input to the output transducer (14) for varying the ratio between the part of the correction signal (46) supplied to the output transducer (14) and the part of the correction signal (46) shunted to the shunt path (306). A first adaptive filter model (40) has an error input (202) from the error signal and outputs the correction signal (46). A second adaptive filter model (142) models the output transducer (14) and the error path (56) between the output transducer (14) and the error transducer (16). A copy (312) of the second model (142) has an input from the output (46) of the first model (40), and the output of the copy (312) is summed with the error signal (44) and the resultant sum is supplied to the error input (202) of the first model (40), such that the shunt path (306) is provided through the model copy (312).

    摘要: A method and apparatus are described for controlling output saturation in adaptive digital filters (30) used in active noise control systems. A practical adaptive filter (30) has a specified maximum value for its output signal, above which the output signal becomes clipped and filter output saturation occurs. According to the described method and apparatus, the filter output signal value (OUTPUT(n)) is monitored to detect the occurrence of filter output saturation. Then, the filter (30) is adjusted to reduce the value of the output signal (OUTPUT(n)), when output saturation is detected. Based upon the detection of filter output saturation, a power reference level is established to estimate the maximum average power that the output signal (OUTPUT(n)) can contain without causing saturation. The filter weighting coefficients are then adjusted in accordance with the difference between the established power reference level and a computed average power associated with the filter output signal (OUTPUT(n)).

And adding means (9) adds an output signal of the first adaptive filtering means (4) and an output signal of the second adaptive filtering means (8) to output the adding signal to the electric/sound converter (2) and the transfer characteristics stimulating means (5).
