    摘要: A dual mode raster input scanner (10) to scan either side or both sides of a moving document (D) advancing along a paper path through a scanning station (30) in a first mode, and to scan one side of a stationary document on a scanning platen in a second mode. A scanning station, for scanning in the first mode, includes two scanning elements (32, 34) supported closely adjacent each other and on opposite sides of the document path for scanning both sides of a document substantially simultaneously. A scanning platen (112) supports a document for scanning in a second mode. One of the scanning elements is supported in a scanning position closely adjacent the other scanning element during said first mode, and for scanning movement past the platen in the second mode. A single sheet document inlet (150) is also provided for the supply of single sheets or computer fanfold webs.

    摘要: @ For transferring information to a recording medium a laser (2) is modulated with the information signals. The modulated output beam (8) of the laser (2) is applied to a surface acoustic wave device (4) via collimating optics (3). The surface acoustic wave device (4) is controlled by scanning signals from a control circuit (1) applied to a transducer (7) at the device (4). The scanned light beam (9) is focussed by optics (5) onto a recording medium, which may be a rotating selenium drum (6). The electrostatic images which are formed on the surface of the drum by the scanned beam is subsequently transferred by conventional dry powder printing techniques. For transferring information out of a recording medium, for example a document, the output beam of the laser (2) is unmodulated. The unmodulated scanned light beam is reflected from the document wrapped around a drum. The reflected light is picked up at a photodetector deriving electrical signals which can be sent to a remote location.

    摘要: In an example embodiment, there is disclosed herein an apparatus comprising first and second light sources, a sensor, and an image processor. The sensor obtains image data from the first and second light sources, wherein the image data from the first light source is a composite image of light passing through the sheet and the near side image data from the second light source is a reflected, near side image.
