It is proposed to prevent deformation of the tips of outer side walls of insert fitting recesses provided at the distal end of a jaw, thereby improving durability of the jaw and preventing breakage of the bolts. Insert fitting recesses (22) are formed on both sides of a movable jaw (4) movable between open and closed positions relative to the fixed jaw (3) at its distal end. Shear inserts (23) are fitted in the respective insert fitting recesses (22) and fixed in position by tightening bolts (30) for shearing an object (A) to be cut in cooperation with shear blades (12, 15 and 16) mounted at the distal end of the fixed jaw (3). Each insert fitting recess (22) has an outer side wall (32) including a first flat surface (33) inclined outwardly relative to the inner side surface (23a) of the shear insert (23), an inclined surface (34) inclined in the opposite direction to the first flat surface (33), and a second flat surface (35) extending substantially parallel to the inner side surface (23a) of the shear insert (23). The shear inserts (23) each have an abutment surface (38) adapted to be brought into surface abutment with the second flat surface (35), and a braking surface (39) facing the first flat surface (33). During cutting the object to be cut, a shear reaction force applied to shear inserts (23) is supported by the first flat surfaces (33) over the entire areas thereof. An automatically swiveling crushing apparatus has a swiveling motor in a bracket, and branches diverged from charging and discharging paths that constitute the hydraulic piping leading to a cylinder for closing or opening distal crushing arms. One of the branches extends from one of the paths then operating to open the end arms, so that a portion of the hydraulic fluid is fed to the hydraulic motor if and when internal pressure in this branch has exceeded an upper limit. The other branch extends from the other path leading to the cylinder so as to close the end arms, and this branch prevents any amount of hydraulic fluid from flowing back to the motor. The branches render dispensable a discrete or independent hydraulic piping in a self-propelled platform having a proximal working arm to be connected to the apparatus, saving cost and labor in connecting this arm to the apparatus.

The apparatus comprises a body member (1), which provides a wide supporting surface bearing in use of the apparatus against the supporting structures (4) of a building to be demolished, a hydraulic cylinder (6) mounted on the body member, as well as a spreader element (2) connected pivotably (8, 9) to the body member (1) and the hydraulic cylinder (6) and having its dismounting end provided with a removal/crushing element (2a) for applying a loading force to the inside surface of the dismountable unit (3) over a relatively small area. The articulation (8) between the spreader element (2) and the body member (1) is located at the opposite end with respect to the dismounting end. The apparatus (10) is adapted for connection by its body member (1) mechanically to the lifting arm of a working machine (11), the hydraulic cylinder (6) being adapted for connection to the working machine's hydraulics, the apparatus being thus operable by means of the very working machine's controls, thereby enabling operation of the apparatus in various positions.

The head and driven connectors are associated with the fixed jaw and the strut connector is associated with the free jaw, where the head and driven connectors are connected to the prime mover or backhoe with a quickhitch. The arrangement is such that when in use the distance between the driven and head connectors remains constant and the distance between the driven and strut or head and strut connectors varies.

The demolition toll comprises, on both jaws on the sides oriented towards each other, several crushing teeth (4), for breaking demolition material for example, concrete, masonary or similar, and when closing the tool, intermeshing cutting parts (5, 19) for cutting concrete, wood etc. Said cutting parts (5) of one (1) jaw are arranged on a measuring element (6) which can be introduced in a postive fit into a receiving recess (13) provided on one of the jaws. The measuring element comprises mounting through openings (9) which form a common opening with the mounting through opening in the jaws (1) and one or more bolts (12) are introduced into the mounting through openings for securing the position of the measuring element.
