摘要： An anhydrous base composition characterised in that it comprises a high amount of an oily component of petroleum jelly non-modified or modified with mineral oil and a mild detergent component of such nature and in such an amount for imparting thereto foaming characteristics when subsequently combined with water is disclosed. The preferred mild detergent is sodium cocoyl isethionate. The present base compositions are useful not only in cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions, but also in cleansing compositions in general household use.

摘要： A mouthpiece apparatus for a pulmonary function tester, e.g., a spirometer, has a housing with a woven fabric diaphragm positioned across a passage through the housing. The woven fabric diaphragm provides a known differential pressure as a function of air flow, which is substantially the same from unit to unit. A port, capable of being connected to a pressure transducer, is in fluid communication with the passage, and the woven fabric resistance is located downstream of the port. The material used for the woven resistance element is one that is resistant to absorption of moisture and is formed as a monofilament.

摘要： A translucent water-in-oil emulsion characterised in that it has a similar general appearance and feel as petroleum jelly and comprises an aqueous phase containing a humectant, an oil phase comprising petroleum jelly or petroleum jelly modified with mineral oil and a water-in-oil emulsifying agent, the aqueous phase having a refractive index in essentially the same range as the oil phase is disclosed. The translucent water-in-oil emulsions according to the present invention have the same general appearance and feel of petroleum jelly and function like petroleum jelly, but are superior thereto in the sense that when applied to skin will not only help prevent water from escaping therefrom or exert a barrier effect, but also will allow water, humectants and other moisturizes from the emulsion water phase to pass therethrough to contact the skin and to moisturize the skin. The compositions in accordance with the present invention are useful as skin moisturizer compositions. They may be used as a carrier or vehicle for oil- and water-soluble topical drugs. They also may be used in the same general way as petrolatum (e.g. skin protectant agent, emollient and/or lubricant).
