    Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a circuit. The methods comprise: using a first thermal responsive device to connect a first power source between first and second terminals to which an external load can be connected to the circuit; using a second thermal responsive device to cause a thermal unresponsive device to be in an open circuit condition; and performing operations responsive to a temperature of a surrounding environment exceeding a given temperature value. The operations include: disconnecting the first power source from at least the first terminal by transitioning the first thermal responsive device from a closed state to an open state; and connecting a second power source between the first and second terminals by transitioning the thermal unresponsive device from the open circuit condition to a closed circuit condition using the second thermal responsive device.

    Abstract: An outer space deployable antenna may include a waveguide antenna feed section. A first plurality of wires and a first plurality of biased hinges may couple the first plurality of wires together to be self-biased to move between a collapsed stored configuration and an extended deployed configuration. A horn antenna section may be coupled to the waveguide antenna feed section and may include a second plurality of wires and a second plurality of biased hinges coupling the second plurality of wires together to be self-biased to move between the collapsed stored configuration and the extended deployed configuration. A flexible electrically conductive layer may cover the waveguide antenna feed section and the horn antenna section in at least the extended deployed configuration.

    Abstract: Disk antenna includes a plurality of conductive plates forming a stack aligned along a principal axis. The plates include a ground plane plate, a plurality of electrically active plates, and a drive plate disposed between the ground plane plate and the plurality of electrically active plates. A mast is configured to transition from a first condition in which the mast is compactly stowed, to a second condition in which the mast is deployed. Suspension members are configured to couple a radiating end of the mast to the plurality of electrically active plates. The plates are compactly stacked when the mast is in the first condition, and urged to distributed locations along the length of the mast in the second condition.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for making and/or using a hybrid laminate composite tube structure. The methods comprise: wrapping a plurality of lamina layers around a male cylindrical tool (e.g., mandrel); treating the lamina layers with heat/pressure to form the hybrid laminate composite tube structure; and assembling a structure by adhesively bonding the hybrid laminate composite tube structure to a metallic fitting. The lamina layers comprise: at least one first lamina layer formed of a first material having a first CTE; and at least one second lamina layer formed of a second material different from the first material and having a second CTE different than the first CTE. The hybrid laminate composite tube structure has at least one property that is different in the axial direction than the hoop direction. An axial CTE of the hybrid laminate composite tube structure is tailored to provide a net zero CTE for the assembled structure.
