    摘要: The invention relates to a machine for material processing by way of a laser beam, in particular for laser beam welding, comprising a machine-guided protective housing having an outlet opening, which surrounds the laser beam directed onto a workpiece during the material processing. In order to create a machine for laser beam welding, which allows better personal safety without completely enclosing the machine, it is proposed that the protective housing be assigned at least one sensor which senses particular chemical or physical properties as measured variables, the sensor is connected to a controller which compares the sensed actual values of the measured variables with a setpoint value for the measured variables and, depending on the setpoint/actual value comparison, interrupts the laser beam and/or prevents the activation thereof. Furthermore, a method and an arrangement for improving personal safety during the operation of such a machine are specified.

    摘要: A high power fiber laser system for processing a workpiece is configured with a plurality of laser modules each having an output feeding fiber which supports and guides laser radiation towards the workpiece, and a fiber combiner formed upon coupling the output feeding fibers together and outputting the combined laser radiation into a delivery fiber. The combiner is configured so that the combined laser radiation has a minimally possible beam quality factor (M2). The high power laser system further includes a laser head receiving the combined laser radiation and focusing the latter on the surface of the workpiece so as cause a backreflected radiation to propagate backwards through the laser head, delivery fiber and combiner towards the laser modules. The fiber laser system also is provided with a monitoring assembly receiving the backreflected radiation and operative to detect the spectrum thereof.

    摘要: A high power single mode fiber laser system is configured with an active fiber including co extending multimode core (MM) and cladding around the MM core. The MM core is doped with one or more ions selected from rare earth and transitional metals and has a bottleneck cross in accordance with one aspect of the disclosure. The bottleneck cross- section includes a relatively small uniformly dimensioned input end region, a frustoconical region and a relatively large uniformly dimensioned amplifying region. The refractive step index of the MM core is configured with a central dip shaped and dimensioned along the input region so as not to disturb a Gaussian field profile of fundamental mode, gradually transform the Gaussian field profile into the ring profile of the fundamental mode and support the latter along the amplifying region. In accordance with a further aspect, the core is further provided with an output transforming region with the dip which gradually shapes the ring field profile in the Gaussian field profile further distortlessly supported by the output end region. A variety of end and side pumping arrangements are employed with the structures configured in accordance with the first and second aspects.
