    摘要: A collector for an electron beam tube includes a ceramic cylinder 1 within which are located rings 3 of a first material, such as copper and 4 of a second material, such as molybdenum, arranged alternately along the axis X-X of the cylinder 1. The ratio of the axial lengths of the rings at the inner surface of the ceramic cylinder 1 is selected so as to provide temperature compensation. The rings 4 surround part of the adjacent rings 3 to confine thermal expansion in a radial direction.

    摘要: An inductive output tube, such as an IOT has a generally cylindrical input cavity within which an annular channel 32 is defined by part of the cavity wall 30 and other walls 33 and 34 to give a U-shaped cross-section. The channel 32 is substantially wholly filled with high frequency energy absorbing material such as ferrite loaded silicone rubber 35. This prevents unwanted oscillations and because of the large surface area of the channel in contact with the material 35 it is particularly efficient. Other configurations and locations of the channel are also possible and the absorbing material may occupy only part of the channel providing that it is in contact with the surfaces of the channel walls.

While the same number of pulses are counted each time, the intermediate count states used to produce consecutive output pulses are different. This reduces or eliminates coherent interference produced by the counter during counting which would otherwise give rise to visually intrusive banding (Fig. 1). When used to generate timing pulses for a video imager, the circuit produces a randomly or pseudo-randomly scattered interference pattern (Fig. 2). While the actual amount of interference is unchanged, the distributed pattern is subjectively less objectionable than the visually intrusive regular banded interference pattern produced by a conventional counter which always uses the same count sequence.
