The offset member may be coupled to the saddle member to allow for offset connection of rods. Connection of individual rods can be accomplished by connecting the rods with the cross-link connector. The cross-link connector has an integrally formed cylindrical member that couples a pair of coupling portions together. The cylindrical member can be bent along multiple axes. The occipital plate secures the rods to the occipital bone of the skull. The occipital plate has a cross-shaped plate with a plurality of apertures defined in the plate and at least one saddle member coupled to the plate. Alternatively, the occipital rod can be secured to the occipital bone.

A device for correcting and stabilising a curvature of a spinal column by anterior fusion comprises at least two brace holders (1-5), each adapted to be arranged against an associated vertebral body (7-11) in the spinal column. The device also comprises a securing means (6, 6') for securing the respective brace holders (1-5) on said vertebral body (7-11), and at least one elongate brace (12), which is adapted to extend through and between said brace holders (1-5) along the extent of the spinal column and be locked thereto. The brace (12) is plate-shaped, and the brace holder (1-5) is designed to support the brace (12) in such a manner that a first flat side of the brace (12) faces the abutment surface of the brace holder (1-5) on said vertebral body (7-11), whereby the brace (12) is deformable in only one geometric plane during mounting in the brace holder (1-5) and during correction. In a method for correcting and stabilising the curvature, the brace (12) is arranged to extend through the brace holders (1-5), such that the brace (12) is deformed to substantially follow the curvature. The brace is locked in at least one first brace holder (1), whereupon the spinal column, vertebra by vertebra, is corrected while the brace (12) is gradually clamped and locked in the brace holders (1-5).

Device for the osteosynthesis of a spinal segment by the anterior route, characterized in that it comprises at least two bone anchorage elements (1) for anchorage in the vertebral bodies (L2, L3...) by the anterior route, a frame (5) comprising a rod (6) adapted to be received in the bone anchorage elements, a plate (7) disposed roughly parallel to the rod and rigidly connected to the latter to form a closed frame. Means (4, 3) are provided for clamping the rod in the anchorage elements so as to fix the latter at a predetermined distance apart, and screws (16) extend through openings (9) in the plate which are so profiled that the screwing of the screws (16) in the vertebrae automatically brings the two adjacent vertebrae closer together and thus achieves a compression of an intervertebral filler (G) replacing a vertebral disk. The association of a plate (7) and a rod (6) in the form of a frame affords the advantage of providing four vertebral anchorage points instead of only two in devices of the prior art, which prevents any offsetting of one vertebra (L2 or L3) relative to the other.
