The present invention relates to a collapsible protection element for lines, chiefly those movably laid, consisting of a single-piece with an approximately even and flat plastic injected or molded configuration and segments (11, 12, 13, 14) which are interconnected by deformable bridges (15). Said protection element comprises a base segment (11) with a top side (4) and a bottom side (5) and at least one wall segment (12) which can be formed into a closed duct section (10) by bending and/or folding in the direction of the top side (4) of the base segment (11) and by mechanical closure of a closing mechanism (16, 17). The protection element (1) is connected to or can be connected to other similar protection elements (2) in such a way that the duct sections (10) form a line duct in the longitudinal direction (S). A preferred embodiment comprises an entire series of single-piece protection elements with end pieces (30). Said embodiment enables cost-effective manufacturing of complete line protection systems.

A grommet (10) is provided for linking a wire through a rear door glass from the roof of a vehicle, the rear door glass of the vehicle configured to open and close independently from the opening and closing of the rear door of the vehicle. The grommet has first, second and third flexible moldings (11, 12, 13) and first and second rigid moldings (14, 15). The flexible moldings allow the grommet to flex with the opening closing motion of the rear door and rear door glass, while the rigid moldings prevent the wire from deforming the grommet. The grommet is adapted to accept a wire (30) through the third flexible molding (13) and through the second rigid molding (15), through the second flexible molding (12), through the first rigid molding (14) and through the first flexible molding (11). After passing the wire through all moldings, the moldings are adapted to be sequentially connected each other in substantially the same order as the wire passing order. Portions of the moldings have generally circular tubular configurations, while other portions of the moldings have generally flat tubular configurations in order to pass a group of wires through a narrow space. The grommet provides water-resistant protection for the wires contained therein.

The cross-sectional configuration of the filament is chosen such that abutting turns fit closely together at the outer curved surface of the coil, and may be of square, rectangular (32 etc), trapezoidal, stepped (50, 52), concave - convex (64, 66) or semi-circular (70) configuration. Preferably, the helical coil is a multi-start spring (80) composed of 2-6 separate filaments (81-84). An outer sleeve (24) and PTFE tape wrapped layer (22) cover the helical coil. The smooth outer surface of the coil avoids pinching of the sleeve when the conduit is flexed.
