The measurement device (6) then detects gas pressure differences between the test head (4) and the atmosphere whereby the signaling device (7) indicates the results of the leakage test.

A refrigeration system (10) for cooling or heating an area includes a condenser (20) for removing heat from the system to an external environment, an evaporator (22) for receiving heat from the area to be cooled or delivering heat to the area to be heated, and a compressor (12) for raising the pressure and the temperature of a refrigerant. Prior to placing the system in a cooling or heating/defrost mode, it is desirable to run a pretrip routine to determine the operational condition of the refrigeration system. In the present invention, a pretrip device determines a refrigeration system parameter, and from this parameter selects one of at least two possible pretrip routine variations. Finally, the pretrip device executes the selected pretrip routine in order to determine the operational condition of a refrigeration system.

The real time functions (25) are limited to movement of objects to be tested through the testing stations (16, 18), operation of sensors to gather raw data, and storage of the raw data (26). The off line functions (30) include removing artifacts in the raw data, analyzing the raw data according to various rules, and controlling the sorting of the tested objects according to the analysis. By limiting the real time processing to a few essential elements necessary for operation of the testing line, the testing line (10) can proceed even if the off line functions are not operating.

A computer implemented method on a computer readable media is provided for determining the source of a problem in a complex system of managed components based upon symptoms. The problem source identification process is split into different activities. Explicit configuration non-specific representations of types of managed components, their problems, symptoms and the relations along which the problems or symptoms propagate are created that can be manipulated by executable computer code. A data structure is produced for determining the source of a problem by combining one or more of the representations based on information of specific instances of managed components in the system. Computer code is then executed which uses the data structure to determine the source of the problem from one or more symptoms.

The invention provides an apparatus with which the air velocity through (self-regulating) ventilating grates (9) can accurately be measured, without utilizing a wind tunnel, which is costly and occupies much space. The apparatus comprises a tunnel-shaped housing (1, 2, 3, 4) comprising a first compartment having an inlet opening (5) to which a ventilating fan of an adjustable speed can be connected, a measuring partition (8) disposed in transverse direction in the tunnel-shaped housing and in which a ventilating grate (9) can be fitted, and a second compartment, whose walls (1', 2', 3', 4') slant towards each other and define an outflow opening (10) whose surface area is fixedly related to the ventilating capacity of the ventilating grate to be tested, while in a wall of the first compartment at least one ventilating grate (11; 12) is disposed having an air passage opening whose size can be controlled, depending on the pressure prevailing at the inlet side of the ventilating grate to be tested, for keeping this pressure constant.
