摘要: A plastic blow molded container (10) is disclosed as including a freestanding base structure (20) that is constructed with a plurality of alternating hollow legs (22) and curved ribs (34), and a hub (41) from which the legs and ribs extend radially whith a construction that provides good stability against tipping as well as the capability of withstanding internal pressure. The hollow leg (22) has lower flat feet (24) with curved outer extremities that extend circumferentially for 45 to 65 percent of the extent about a central axis A of the container to provide good stability against tipping. Best results are achieved when the lower flat feet have curved outer extremities that extend circumferentially for 50 to 60 percent, and most preferably about 55 percent of the extent about the central axis A to provide the good stability against tipping.

Means (160, 222, 296, or 332) is provided for providing relative rotary movement between the container body (11) and the tooling element (172, 246, 302, or 346) in all embodiments except the apparatus (360) in which the bottom recess portion (25) is swaged. The method includes providing relative transverse movement between the container body (11) and the tooling element (172, 246, 302, 346, or 392), and in all embodiments except the one (360) in which reworking is achieved by swaging, relative rotary movement between the container body (11) and the tooling element (172, 246, 302, or 346) is provided.

Dabei ist vorgesehen, dass ein Behälterboden (24) eines Behälters (20) jeweils zumindest eine zweite Stapelpinaufnahme umfasst, wobei die ersten (16) und zweiten Stapelpinaufnahmen für ein Einsetzen, insbesondere passgenaues Einsetzen eines Stapelpins (30) bemessen und derart zueinander anordenbar sind, dass ein Behälter (20) auf dem Oberdeck (12) mittels des Stapelpins (30) festlegbar ist, wobei der Stapelpin (30) dabei rumpfseitig in die erste Stapelpinaufnahme (16) eingreift, stirnseitig über die Auflagefläche (120) hervorsteht und in die zweite Stapelpinaufnahme eingreift.
