A pneumatic weft end tension device for air looms provides to keep the free weft yarn end tensioned, after it has been inserted into the shed, thus preventing or promptly damping any longitudinal elastic weft yarn oscillations. The pneumatic weft end tension device consists of a blower (1) inserted between two adjacent blades (6) of the reed - and apt to spread them apart - in a position beyond the split selvedge zone of the fabric being woven. The air stream coming from the blower (1) deviates the free weft yarn end between the two blades (6), spread apart, thereby braking said yarn to an extent sufficient to prevent its elastic oscillation after its insertion has taken place.

The present invention concerns a weft carrying gripper for shuttleless looms, of the type comprising clamping means in the form of a pair of longitudinally extending elements in reciprocal contact, a first clamping element consisting of a stiff bar (4) and a second clamping element being in the form of a leaf spring (8) apt to impart a contact pressure on said first element along a plane substantially parallel to the gripper axis. According to the invention, one of said clamping elements is connected to a slider (2) movable longitudinally in respect of the gripper body, and the other clamping element is fixedly mounted on the gripper body; cam means are moreover interposed between said slider and the gripper body in order to produce a movement apt to draw said clamping element associated to the slider and said fixed clamping element close and apart, in response to the forward and backward movement of the slider.

The invention concerns a device and a method to form the split selvedge in a loom, in which the device comprises independent motor means controlled by a central processing unit of the loom on the basis of the actual weaving parameters of each single weft, thereby varying the moment of mutual shifting of the selvedge yarns. It is thus possible to equalize the final tension level of the single wefts, independently from the weaving conditions and from the characteristics of the single weft being inserted, thereby obtaining, after cutting of the split selvedge, a fringe of uniform length even for fabrics woven with different wefts.

A device for cutting the weft yarn in weaving looms comprises a fixed-blade and movable-blade cutting group which has associated motor means (8) for the cutting movement of the movable blade in order to perform cutting of the weft yarn. The fixed and movable blades are each mounted on the end of respective elongated blade-carrying arms (9, 10) which extend respectively above and below the fabric holder (3) of the loom, as far as a cutting zone located beyond the leading edge of the fabric holder (3) itself in the direction of the reed (2), a zone in which said blades overlap so as to perform cutting of the weft.
