The depilation system comprises an electric depilation apparatus (1) and a cartridge (2). The depilation apparatus (1) comprises a depilation head (3), a drive unit (11), and a chamber (12) adapted to accommodate the cartridge (2). The cartridge (2) comprises a reservoir (21) for holding a substance, a discharge channel (22), and a pump (23). The chamber (12) extends between the depilation head (3) and the drive unit (11). The depilation head (3) is movable with respect to the depilation apparatus (1) in such a manner that the chamber (12) is accessible. In order to enable the pump (23) to be actuated, the depilation apparatus (1) comprises an actuator (13) which extends into the chamber (12). A mechanism (17, 18) couples the actuator (13) to a button (15) at the exterior of the depilation apparatus (1) in such a manner that the actuator (13) can be driven by moving the button (15).
