    摘要: In combination, a dispensing table (10) and a cushioning conversion machine (12) which is slidably mounted to the table (10). The table (10) includes a substantially horizontal work platform (14) and the machine (12) is situated below the platform (14). The cushioning conversion machine (10) includes conversion assemblies (50, 52, 54, 56, 58) which convert stock material (S) into a cushioning product (P). The cushioning conversion machine (12) is slidable to an operating position whereat the cushioning product (P) is deposited on the work platform (14) during operation of the machine. Preferably, the machine (12) is also slidable to an upstream position whereat its upstream portion projects outwardly from the table (10) and loading and threading procedures can be easily performed. Additionally or alternatively, the machine (12) is preferably slidable to a downstream position whereat its downstream portion projects outwardly from the table (10) and inspection and maintenance may be conveniently conducted on certain components of the machine (12).

    摘要: A cushioning conversion machine (20), which converts stock material (11) into cut sections (P) of dunnage, includes a cutting/aligning assembly (56). The cutting/aligning assembly (56) comprises a moving blade unit (73) which is mounted on the frame (36) in such a manner that it travels between a rest position and a cutting position whereat it cuts a dunnage strip (5) (which is emerging from a dunnage outlet opening (48)) into a cut section. The cutting/aligning assembly (56) also includes an automatic alignment device (80) which automatically aligns the cut section with the dunnage outlet opening (48) when the blade unit (73) is moved from the cutting position to the rest position. The plural layers (56, 57, 58) of the stock material are shaped into a three-dimensional strip of dunnage and the overlapped edge portions of a first layer (56) of the stock material are connected together separate from a central portion of the first layer (56). The overlapped edge portions of the first layer (56) may be generally coplanar with its adjacent unoverlapped portions.     摘要: A cushioning conversion machine, method and product characterized by a connecting assembly that provides a mechanical interlock between overlapped portions of sheet-like stock material to prevent 'unzippering' of a low density cushioning product produced by the cushioning conversion machine. The connecting assembly comprises a pair of rotatable stitching members, a first one (102) having a plurality of radially outwardly extending projections (120), or teeth, around the circumference thereof, with the projections having at least two axially spaced apart segments defining a recess therebetween. The second stitching member (100) includes at least one axial punch segment (132) which includes a peripheral edge portion dimensioned to be received in the recess in the first stitching member during rotation of the stitching members. The peripheral edge portion is cooperative with the projections of the first stitching member to produce at each corner edge thereof a row of slits in the overlapped portions of the sheet-like stock material, thereby forming at least one row of tabs for interlocking the overlapped portions of the stock material. The second stitching member may include another axial segment relatively adjacent the punch segment, such other axial segment having a plurality of radially outwardly extending projections (120) meshing with the projections of one of the axial segments of the first stitching member. The stitching members may be formed by a plurality of flat disc members stacked side-by-side with the several axial segments being formed by one or more of the flat disc members.
