Abstract:
A container (10) of variable volume comprises an inner flexible member (1) substantially enclosed in a number of interlocking outer sleeves (3, 14). The volume of the container (10) can be varied by moving at least one outer sleeve (3, 14) relative to another outer sleeve (3, 14). Means for moving the outer sleeves (14, 3) to vary the volume of the container (10) include rotating screw-threaded outer sleeves (3, 14), moving an outer sleeve relative to another by means of a ratchet, or by using multi-level bayonet type connection.
Abstract:
A bag-in-box arrangement having a rigid outer box 10 is provided with an inner bag 20 having two openings 50, 80. One opening 80 has means for connecting the arrangement to an apparatus to be supplied with the contents of the bag. The second opening 50 is such that it may be connected to venting means to allow any gas evolved from the contents of the bag 20 to escape.
Abstract:
Among all the known packages for soft and fluid products, the flexible tube type package is the most uncomplicated and most cost-effective. It, however, suffers from being relatively difficult to open, not to be reclosed and not allowing convenient handling when being emptied. These problems have found their solution through the invention which mainly is characterized by the flexible tube type package at one of its ends being provided with thin collar (2) of a semi-rigid material such as cardboard or a soft plastic or a more rigid material. The collar is arranged such that the filled package can be placed standing with one of the collar edges resting against the support surface. In a particular embodiment the package is also surrounded by a round jar (3), the inner dimensions of which fitting to the diameter of the collar, and a lid (4) which is provided with a sharp point (7).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A pillow bag (10) is modified to include an air input port (14) that allows inflation of an interply region (204,205) of the bag. As the interply region inflates, an inner ply (211) rises and becomes an advancing wall, raising the bulk material level (5) in the bag, inclining the bottom of the bag, and pulling excess material away from the drain port all at the same time. An integral filling conduit or snout (11) may be provided on the top of the bag, a mouth of which acts as a fill port to ease filling of the bag. The invention can also be applied to fitted bags.
Abstract:
An all-purpose dispensing unit (11) for dispensing liquid products such as milk, cream, juices, iced tea, water, liquid eggs, fruit drinks, lemonade, wine, and other liquids, and for dispensing bulk products such as salad dressings and condiments including ketchup and mustard, comprises a cabinet (13) having a chamber (15) adapted to receive one or more cartridges (18, 19, 20) with each cartridge containing a different selected liquid to be dispensed. Each cartridge comprises a container (21) for holding the liquid, a front door panel (23) on the cartridge adapted to close the front wall opening (17a-17c) of the cabinet chamber to prevent the escape of cold air from the chamber and act as a door to the cabinet chamber, and a dispensing valve (25) extending outwardly from the front door panel and connected to the liquid in the container.
Abstract:
A reusable container assembly (10) is provided which comprises a substantially rectangular open-top container particularly adapted to receive a fluid-containing bag. The container is lidded (20) to thereby enclose the contents of the container assembly. A side wall aperture (40) receives the spout of a fluid-containing bag (50) disposed within the container assembly. The container assembly is further made tamper evident.
Abstract:
A liquid sample storage device (10) which utilizes a liner-holder (12) with a liner (60) which may be disposed of after use, thereby eliminating contamination problems associated with reusable bottles. The liner-holder is a hollow, wedge shaped container with an upwardly extending neck section (16) and vents (17, 18, 19) on the top and bottom, as well as a plurality of vents on each of its sides, to allow adequate displacement of air from within the container as the liner fills with the liquid sample. Two embodiments utilize a liner-holder which may be opened into two sections along a vertical hinge to provide access to the interior for proper positioning and later removal of the liner. The liner is positioned within the liner-holder, secured at the neck, and then suspended within the liner-holder by snap-locks or a support hook to facilitate the input of the sample into the liner.
