The method of producing an electrophotographic photosensitive member having a charge-transporting layer comprises a step of forming a coating film by applying a dispersion solution comprising polyolefin polymer particles and charge-transporting pigment particles as dispersoids and comprising a dispersion medium, and then forming the charge-transporting layer by heating the coating film and melting the polyolefin polymer particles, wherein the particles consisting of the polyolefin polymer particles and the charge-transporting pigment particles in the dispersion solution have a number average particle diameter of 50 nm or more and 300 nm or less and a degree of dispersion (standard deviation/number average particle diameter) of 1.0 or less.

    摘要: An object of the present invention is to improve a phenomenon of the life-shortening of the endurance life due to scratch occurring when recesses of a fixed dimple shape are formed on the surface of the surface layer, in order to inhibit the chattering and folding back of a cleaning blade and the fracture of an edge, which occurs because friction between the surface layer of the surface of an electrophotographic photosensitive member and an abutting member is high; and particularly to improve the above described problems, from initial printing through printing on many sheets, which become particularly remarkable when using an electrophotographic photosensitive member with the use of a curable resin that is improved so as to have a high elastic deformation rate for the surface layer, in order to improve the strength of the surface layer, for the purpose of increasing the durability of an electrophotographic photosensitive member. An electrophotographic photosensitive member for achieving the object, which has a support and an organic photosensitive layer, is characterized in that the electrophotographic photosensitive member has dimple-like recesses formed on the surface of the surface layer of the electrophotographic photosensitive member, and further has the recesses with the same pattern as that on the surface of the surface layer, formed on the interface created between the surface layer of the organic photosensitive member and the layer directly under the surface layer (a subsurface layer).

    摘要: In an electrophotographic process: a single-layer organic photosensitive material drum (1) having a single organic photosensitive layer of a thickness of not smaller than 25 µ m formed on an electrically conducting blank tube (1a) with a surface roughness Ra of not larger than 0.6 µ m; the drum (1) rotates at a peripheral speed of not lower than 400 mm/sec, in order to execute an image-forming processing that includes electric charging, exposure to image-bearing light, developing, transfer, cleaning by a blade (6b), and removal of electric charge. Though the photosensitive material drum (1), rotates at a high speed and a large frictional force is exerted on the cleaning blade (6b), damage to the blade (6b), is effectively suppressed, and images are stably formed for extended periods of time without permitting the cleaning to become defective.
