摘要: A flashlamp drive circuit including a storage capacitor which is charged and selectively discharged in order to drive a flashlamp. A capacitor (116) is connected in parallel with each respective flashlamp (106) in a bank of flashlamps. Each capacitor (116) has a comparatively small capacitance so as to be capable of storing only a portion of the total energy pulse required to be delivered to the respective flashlamp (106). A controller, comprising a digital signal processor (118) and a microprocessor (120) is provided to control the operation of all of the flashlamps (106) in the bank via respective switch mechanisms (110). In use, each energy (or drive) pulse delivered to a flashlamp (106) is comprised of a plurality of smaller energy packets resulting from repeated charging and discharging of the respective capacitor (116). Thus, the shape and duration of the current pulses delivered to the flashlamp (106) is highly controllable and the size of the storage capacitor (116) required is significantly reduced relative to the prior art.

摘要: A lens-fitted photo film unit is pre-loaded with photo film (23), and is a flash built-in type. A booster circuit (46, 47) boosts power source voltage to obtain high voltage. A main capacitor (40) stores charge at the high voltage. A flash discharge tube (41) is connected with the main capacitor, and emits flash light by discharge at the high voltage. A trigger circuit (51, 53) triggers the discharge of the flash discharge tube in response to an exposing operation. A main circuit board (17a) has the booster circuit and the trigger circuit mounted thereon. A subsidiary circuit board (17b) is connected with the main circuit board, and has a flash quenching circuit (49) mounted thereon. The flash quenching circuit operates in an auxiliary manner, and automatically adjusts the amount of the flash light.

摘要: In a REC mode of an ordinary image pickup standby state, a main capacitor (71) is connected to a side of a step-up/charging circuit (72) via a switch (82), and the main capacitor (71) is charged with electric power of a charging battery (91). When the REC mode is changed to other modes, the main capacitor (71) is connected to a side of a step-down circuit (81) by a switching operation of the switch (82). The step-down circuit (81) steps down charging voltage of the main capacitor (71) to 4.2 V to supply it to a power supply circuit (93) of a camera, and steps down the charging voltage to 5 V to supply it to the charging battery (91) which is a power supply of the camera. When it is no longer necessary to emit fill light, the electric power lost from the main capacitor (71) due to natural discharge can automatically be utilized efficiently for operations other than the emission of the fill light.

摘要: An electronic flash device equipped with an LED indicator (26) for providing an indication of completion of charging a main capacitor (29) and a circuit for lowering power consumption has a controlling transistor (36) operative to control a base current of the oscillating transistor (35) which increases or decreases a primary current flowing through a primary winding (41) and to be turned conductive by a current from a battery (27) through a current limiting resistor (39) to start supply of the base current of the oscillating transistor. A secondary current generated in a secondary winding (42) increases the base current of the controlling transistor, which increases the base current of the oscillating transistor which is lowered by the current limiting resistor having a large resistance and is increased or decreased by the controlling transistor. The electronic flash device lowers the power consumption as compared to the devices which use a tertiary winding to increase or decrease the base current of the oscillating transistor. A tertiary winding (43) of the electronic flash device is solely used for turning on the LED.

摘要: An electronic flash device including a self-oscillating charging circuit, a momentary trigger for initiating oscillations of the circuit to charge a flash capacitor, and a voltage sensing device coupled directly between the circuit and the flash capacitor for arresting the oscillations when the capacitor is fully charged. The voltage sensor inlcudes a zener diode in series with a neon ready-light, and switches on a transistor to ground the charging circuit and arrest the oscillations when the capacitor is fully charged. Actuation of the flash device automatically restarts the oscillations and recharges the flash capacitor. A process for recycling a single use camera having such an electronic flash device also is disclosed.
