摘要： A range-sensitive intruder alarm system using FMCW radar. A sinusoidal FMCW signal (14) is generated (11) and mixed (20) with reflected signals (17) to produce an output signal (21) comprising a series of frequency components (f m , 2f m , etc.) which correspond to sidebands of the FMCW signal (14). Each frequency component has a unique amplitude variation with the range of the source of the return signal (17). Selected frequency components (2f m ,5f m ) are filtered (23,24) and their amplitudes compared (28) to define a range limit of the system. The alarm (30,31) is triggered by the output (E) of a threshold circuit (27) which monitors the amplitude of one of the frequency components (2f m ). Triggering of the alarm is inhibited (F) if the comparison (28) reveals a disturbance occurring outside the defined range limit.

摘要： An display arrangement 16 comprises a two dimensional imaging array 3. Each column of the image array 3 is read sequentially by an electronic circuit 11. This energises a one dimensional LED array 12 in dependence upon the received radiation. A motor 9 rotates a mirrored surface of a polygon 18 such that the image of the LED array is scanned. An observer viewing the LED array 12 via eyepiece 13 appears, due to persistence of visions, to see a complete image.

摘要： In a thermal imaging system for passive imaging of infra-red rays, a converging imaging cone is incident on a detector 2. To shield the detector from rays outside the imaging cone which would cause noise, a thin plate 10 is provided and, since the detector is cooled but the plate is not and therefore generates infrared radiation, the plate is formed with corner cube reflectors to reflect radiation emanating from the detector back onto itself. As compared with the conventional "cold shield" reflector which has a spherical reflecting surface, the use of a plate formed with corner cube reflectors makes the imaging system thinner in the axial direction in the region of the detector.
