A connector position assurance device includes a base panel member and a latch assembly connected to and extending generally perpendicularly from the base panel member. The latch assembly has a tongue part and a pair of rails disposed apart from and extending parallel to one another. The tongue part is positioned between and disposed apart from the pair of rails to define a pair of open- ended stop-receiving channels. The tongue part is formed with a slot and a follower projection is connected to the tongue part forward of the slot. The tongue part is movable, in an upward direction, to and between a relaxed normal position and an upward flexed position and, in a downward direction, to and between the relaxed normal position and a downward flexed position. The tongue part is resiliently biased to the relaxed normal position. A connector assembly incorporates the connector position assurance device.

A connector position assurance device includes a pair of locking arm members, a cross member and a pair of guide elements. The pair of locking arm members is disposed apart from one another in a generally parallel manner. Each locking arm member has an outwardly-facing side surface, a rear end portion and a forward end portion. The forward end portion is integrally connected to and disposed opposite the rear end portion. Each forward end portion has a locking projection depending from the bottom surface. The cross member is integrally connected to the pair of locking arm members. Each guide element is integrally connected to and projects outwardly from a respective one of the outwardly-facing side surfaces at the rear end portions. A connector assembly that incorporates the connector position assurance device is also described.

An electrical connector includes a housing and a lever supported pivotally on at least one pivot disposed on the housing. The lever rotates on the pivot within a range from a pre-engagement position to a final engagement position. The lever also has a recess configured to fit a boss disposed on a mating connector therein in accordance with rotational movement of the lever. Further, the lever includes a locking portion disposed on a beam thereof. The locking portion includes a base portion extending downward from the beam, a latching arm extending from the base portion in a direction substantially tangent to the rotational movement; and a latching detent disposed in proximity of a free end of the latching arm. The latching detent is configured to engage with the engaging portion of the housing at the second position, and thereby rotational movement of the lever is restrained at the final engagement position.
