Eine Vorrichtung vorzugweise zur mikrobiologischen Fermentation und Kultivierung von Zellen befindet sich in einem geschlossenen Raum. Es ist ein sterilisierbarer Behälter (1) vorhanden, einer in diesem angeordneten Antriebswelle (2; 2'), mit einer Anzahl von an der Antriebswelle (2; 2') angebrachten Rührelementen (3), die zur Begasung des Raumes über Belüftungskanäle (30) belüftbar sind und mindestens einen gasdurchlässigen Teil aufweisen. Die Rührelemente (3) sind in mehreren Ebenen (E1; E2; E3; E4; E5; E6) übereinander angeordnet. Für mehrere je in einer Ebene (E1; E2; E3; E4; E5; E6) angeordnete Rührelemente (3) ist jeweils eine individuelle Gaszufuhr vorgesehen. Hieraus ergibt sich eine optimale Begasung der in dem Behälter zu behandelnden Produktbildner.
