After the generation of the electric power consumption signature database, additional data from the electric power consumption measuring meter and the auxiliary data from the building management system is received, and this additional data is processed to generate a second steady-state load classification component. A second transient state component is extracted from the additional data. The steady-state load classification components and the transient shape components from the electric power consumption signature database, the second steady state load classification component, the second transient shape component, and control signals and status signals associated with the plurality of electric power consuming devices are correlated and combined.

The sensor includes an electricity sensor unit having at least one current transformer (21) housed in an electrically-insulative housing clampable over the cable to form an inductive, non-conductive coupling between the current transformer and the cable. The sensor unit includes an energy storage circuit (23) coupled to the current transformer and configured to generate power for the sensor unit, and a current measurement circuit (22) powered from the energy storage circuit and responsive to current induced in the current transformers to provide an output signal representative of the current that has flowed on the cable over a period of time. A switching circuit isolates and connects a burden resistor from and to the current transformer.

A sense capacitor (128) of known capacitance is included, which is electrically coupled to the sense electrode and a local ground..Suitable voltage measurement circuitry (126) is connected to the sense capacitor and is responsive to voltage produced across the sense capacitor to provide an output signal representative of the voltage on the cable. The measured voltage waveform can be filtered to give the fundamental of the supply voltage, which can eliminate or reduce the effects of changes in capacitance within one cycle. A secondary capacitive (130) coupling can be formed with a related neutral wire (122) to improve stability of the voltage waveform measurement.

The RF transceiver is further operable to perform a data transfer operation responsive to the received RF signal, the data transfer operation including a transfer of meter-related data between the non-volatile memory and the RF transceiver using the second port of the non-volatile memory.
