摘要: An electrochemical cell is provided with an enhanced pressure relief vent formed in a closed end of the cell container that achieves effective venting of gas from the closed end of the container. The electrochemical cell including a container having a first end, a second end, a side wall extending between the first and second ends, and an end wall extending across the first end. The cell has a positive electrode, a negative, and an aqueous alkaline electrolyte, all disposed in the container. The cell further includes a pressure relief vent having a reduced thickness groove formed in the end wall of the container. The reduced thickness groove is formed having eight segments extending radially from a central location. A cover is welded on the end wall of the container via at least three welds, wherein the angular spacing between two adjacent welds is greater than 120°.

摘要: A fluid consuming battery (10) is provided with a fluid regulating system (50) for regulating fluid entry into the battery. The battery (10) includes a fluid consuming cell (20) having a cell housing with fluid entry ports for the passage of a fluid into the cell housing. A first fluid consuming electrode and a second electrode are disposed within the cell housing. The fluid regulating system (50) includes a valve having a moving plate (66) disposed adjacent to a fixed plate (62). The moving plate and fixed plate both have fluid entry ports (68, 64) that align in an open valve position and are misaligned in a closed valve position. The fluid regulating system (50) also includes an actuator that may include one or more shape memory alloy (SMA) components (82a, 82b) for moving the moving plate (66) relative to the fixed plate (62) to open and close the valve.

摘要: A battery with a cell housing having at least one fluid entry port for the passage of a fluid into said cell housing; a first fluid consuming electrode disposed within said cell housing; a second electrode disposed within said cell housing; and a fluid regulating system disposed so as to selectively allow fluid to enter into said at least one fluid entry port so as to reach said first fluid consuming electrode, wherein said fluid regulating system comprises: a moving plate disposed adjacent an outer surface of said cell housing and having at least one plate aperture for moving in and out of alignment with said at least one fluid entry port, and an actuator comprising a shape memory alloy component for moving said moving plate when heat is applied to said shape memory alloy component. An alternative independent claim includes an actuator for moving said moving plate, and a lid covering said moving plate and providing a passage for fluid to said moving plate.

Charging energy may be allocated between the pods (104) as a function of the temporal sequence in which the pods (104) are received by the base (102). Charging energy may also be allocated among the batteries (212) so that the batteries (212) are substantially charged at about the same time.

All of the cutting edges within the razor cartridge have an exposure relative to the contact plane that is one of all positive or all negative.

摘要: This invention relates to a nonaqueous cell comprising a lithium metallic foil anode and a cathode coating comprising iron disulfide as the active material wherein the coating is applied to at least one surface of a metallic substrate that functions as the cathode current collector. In particular, the cell of the invention has improved performance on high rate discharge and is achieved, surprisingly, with an anode underbalance. The cell of the invention has an anode to cathode input that is less than or equal to 1.0. We have discovered, unexpectedly, that the energy density for the cell both volumetrically and gravimetrically can be improved by approximately 20 to 25% while only increasing the volume of the cathode coating solids by approximately 10% through a unique and novel cathode coating formulation used in conjunction with an alloyed lithium foil.
