    摘要： A method of providing navigational information to a vehicle operator includes processing destination information spoken by a vehicle operator with an on - board processing system on a vehicle. The processed voice information is transmitted via a wireless link to a remote data center and analyzed with a voice recognition system at the remote data center to recognize components of the destination information spoken by the vehicle operator. The accuracy of the recognition of the components of the destination information is confirmed via interactive voice exchanges between the vehicle operator and the remote data center. A destination is determined from confirmed components of the destination information, route information to the destination is generated at the remove data center, and the route information transmitted to the on - board processing system from the remote data center via the wireless link.

    摘要： A method for pre-processing road segment data for optimum route computation, a method for determining optimum routes based on the pre-processed road segment data, and corresponding systems are provided. According to the method for road segment data pre-processing, a tiling is provided and a rank information (r) is computed for a road segment (v) based on the tiling, the rank information (r) being a measure of the relevance of the road segment for optimum routes connecting tiles of the tiling. With the rank information (r) being computed based on map geometry, providing the rank information in a subsequent optimum route computation allows the latter to be performed efficiently, e.g., in a navigation system onboard a vehicle.

If the versions are determined not to match, the system control unit 115 extracts the link ID corresponding to the road closest to the spot from the map file MPF, and sets a route, using the link ID.
