摘要： A thermal transfer type color printer comprising:
(a) an ink film supply roll (7) for supplying an ink film (6) on which plural color inks are sequentially painted in its longitudinal direction;
(b) ink film transporting means (9) for transporting said ink film;
(c) a cylindrically-shaped platen roller (5) capable of revolving forward and backward around its shaft line, said platen roller having an outer peripheral face on which plural sprocket pins (5a) are regularly formed, said sprocket pins being arranged in such a manner that each of said sprocket pins can be matched with each of feed holes (2a) formed at an edge portion of a printing paper in its longitudinal direction, said printing paper being partially wound around the outer peripheral face of said platen roller and said ink film being partially wound to be in close contact with said printing paper so that said printing paper is transported forward and backward in accordance with revolution of said platen roller in color printing;
(d) a thermal head (10) capable of being pressed against and separated from said platen roller; and
(e) tension applying means (101) for applying tension force to said ink film in its longitudinal direction so that said ink film can be in close contact with said printing paper wound around said platen roller during said printing paper is transported backward by said platen roller,
said thermal head being repeatedly pressed against and separated from said platen roller which is repeatedly revolved forward and backward so that said printing paper is transported forward and backward while said ink film is sequentially transported forward,
whereby said thermal head transfers said plural color inks on said printing paper so that a desirable color image will be printed out without color dislocation and without forming untransferred portions thereof by said tension applying means.-

摘要： A combination of a printer and a ribbon cassette (45) has a mechanism for preventing a portion of the inked ribbon extending between a supply core (51) and a take-up core - (62) of the ribbon cassette (45) from shifting in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the inked ribbon with respect to a printing head (40). The mechanism is constituted by a substantially planar surface of the platen - (13), and the printing head (40) is urged against the planar surface of the platen through the inked ribbon portion and a sheet (32) to which solid ink in the area on the inked ribbon portion is transferred by the printing head (40). The width of that area on the inked ribbon portion in the widthwise direc- ion of the inked ribbon is at most equal to a half of the width of the inked ribbon. Alternatively, the mechanism (400) is constitued by a mechanism operative in response to the variation in diameter of the inked ribbon wound on the supply core (51) for applying a variable back tension in the reverse direction to the tension acting on the inked ribbon portion by the take-up core (62).

摘要： A ribbon cassette of the kind used to store a reel of typing ribbon, comprises a casing (6), a primary spool (8) mounted an a hub (16) and upon which unused ribbon is wound, and a secondary spool (10) in the casing upon which used ribbon is wound. The secondary spool (10) is provided with means (12) to be engaged by a drive member of (e.g.) a word processor or computer printer, to cause the secondary spool to rotate, and to draw ribbon from the primary spool onto the secondary spool. The cassette comprises means to resist reverse winding of the primary spool, said means comprising a first toothed element (20) forming part of or fixedly mounted on the primary spool, and a secondary toothed element (21) mounted in a diametral slot (24), and which is urged into engagement with the first toothed element (20) by spring means (28). Engagement between the two toothed elements permits normal winding of tape onto the secondary spool from the primary spool, but resists reverse winding of the primary spool. The spring element (28) engages the ribbon, to maintain tension in the ribbon during use. Additionally, the ribbon cassette comprises an insert member (80) comprising an operative portion which may be inserted through a slot (78) in the base (6) into a position in which it engages the primary spool to prevent rotation thereof during transportion, the insert member comprising a supplementary portion located on the exterior of the casing which may be manually grasped to enable the insert member to be removed from the casing of the ribbon cassette in preparation for use thereof.

Hierzu sieht die Erfindung bei einer Farbband kassette der eingangs beschriebenen Gattung vor, daß der ringartige Bremsteil (22) aus einem ebenen Kunststoffteil gebildet ist und sein ringförmiger Abschnitt (23) auf der den Schenkeln (24, 25) gegenüberliegenden Seite eine Quer schnittsverringerung (29) aufweist.
