The present invention is concerned with human low affinity Fc -receptor and the water-soluble part thereof starting with amino acids from about 50 to about 150 of the human low affinity Fc -receptor, preferably with the N-terminal Met-Glu-Leu-Gln-Val-Ser-Ser-Gly-Phe-Val-, their isolation, recombinant preparation and purification. An object of the present application is to provide new anti-Fc ε R-antibodies which enable B cells to be identified at a specific differentiation stage as well enabling the different degrees of atopy and Fc ε R-receptor expression to be defined as a result by the showing the Fc ε R is a B cell specific phenotype marker, the expression of which is strictly correlated with the differentiation stage of B cells, especially with the isotype switching in B cells. Therefore, Fc ε R positive B cells can be recognized by detection with the new antibodies of the expressed Fc ε R, e.g. the expressed Fc ε R in supernatant having a molecular weight of about 25 Kd, and the use thereof in an ELISA.
