A locking device (32, 47) is provided which enables the cleaning head (14) to be locked in defined orientations with regard to the lance shaft (16) in such a way that it can be unlocked. In the configuration shown bristles 15 on the head 13 are concave. The bristle formation can be made convex by rotating the shank 12 on the axle 11 by 180°. This enables the bristle formation to be concave (as shown) or convex, and adopt configurations in between as desired by a user where the curvature is less concave (or less convex) by rotating the head to intermediary relative positions on the axle 11.
