摘要： © A method and apparatus are disclosed for the separation and classification of tobacco into two fractions, e.g., into heavies and lights. A stream of fluid is employed to produce a stratified bed (52) of the tobacco, preferably in cooperation with vibration of the tobacco, in which the tobacco is supported by the fluid and is stratified as a function of particle size, density and weight. The stream entrains the lighter tobacco particles located at the top of the stratified bed and removes them to a suitable receptacle (41), where they are received and collected.

摘要： Apparatus for unpacking a tobacco bale which is contained inside a plastic bag within a telescopic cardboard container, the container having a surrounding plastic strap. The apparatus includes (1) a destrapping station having a cutter adapted to ride along the top of the carton to cut the strap; (2) a lifting device for removing the top of the container by gripping it around the upper corners and then moving it away from the bale and collapsing it and (3) a bag removal device which pulls the bag from the bale, after it has been inverted so that the bottom of the bag is uppermost.

Le materiau a traiter est transporte au travers d'une zone de traitement delimitee par un element permeable qui separe la zone de traitement d'une zone immediatement adjacente a forte densite de vapeur. La vapeur passe au travers de l'element permeable et va directement dans le materiau a un rythme continu, la majeure partie de la vapeur, passee de la zone de vapeur dans la zone de traitement, etant entrainee par le materiau. Le debit modere et continu de la vapeur dans le lit de materiau donne un transfert de vapeur rapide et une excellente distribution de la vapeur rapide dans le materiau traite.
