An adjustment device for use in stabilising and possibly levelling a dining table, when located on an uneven floor, is provided as a replacement foot for one of the existing feet of a multi-legged table. The adjustment device has a threaded post or insertable plug for secure connection to the leg and a slidably movable stem angularly interconnected to each other using a spring to urge the stem into a fully extended position. When sufficient force is applied, the stem moves against the bias of the spring to adopt a more retracted adjusted position in which all of the feet contact the uneven floor to stabilise the position of the table. The advantage of the adjustment device is that it automatically adjusts itself to the correct position to prevent rocking of the table when force is applied to the device or to the table, but retains the adjusted position due to the weight of the table.

There is provided a stabilizing device (16) for a piece of furniture or a device (10) for stabilization of the piece of furniture or the device on a supporting surface (14) and a piece of furniture or a device (10) comprising such a stabilizing device (16). The stabilizing device (16) comprises a housing (18) with a piston opening (19) in one end of the housing, and a piston element (22) which is mounted movably within the housing (18) and movably at least partly out of the piston opening (19) for engagement with said supporting surface (14). The stabilizing device (16) further comprises an actuator (30) which is connected to the piston element (22) for actuation of a movement of the piston element (22) where the actuator (30) comprises a motor (31). The stabilizing device (16) further comprises a control unit (28) which is signally connected to the actuator (30), preferably the motor, for control of the actuation of the piston element (22), and at least one first sensor device (26) that is capable of measuring the load on the motor (31). The at least one first sensor device (26) is signally connected to the control unit (28) such that the movement of the piston element (22) can be controlled based on input from the at least one first sensor device (26). There is also provided methods for stabilizing and for levelling a piece of furniture or a device (10).
