A method of removing multiple hairs and inhibiting future hair growth includes the steps of applying a conductive solution to the hair, pressing on an adhesive layer (52), applying power for a period of time sufficient to destroy the matrix area of the hair, and allowing the treated hair to either be removed immediately or to stay in the skin for a period of time sufficient for the chemical reaction induced at the matrix area to continue long enough to destroy the matrix area and prevent re-growth of the hair.

A thermally enhanced shaving device (10) is provided including a hot air supply, a blade (22), a housing (14) on which the blade is mounted, and an elongated handle (12) to which the housing (14) is attached. The housing (14) has a continuous hot air passageway (46) through it which has an exit (40) and an entrance (42). The blade (22) is mounted across the exit (40) of the passageway (26), while the handle (12) has an internal channel (46) which is connected to the entrance (34) of the hot air passageway (26). The hot air supply includes a heating filament (54) and fan (52) which can be positioned either within the channel or remote thereto. In any case, the hot air supply, the channel (46), and the air passageway (26) are all in fluid communication with one another. The device is operated by blowing ambient air across the hot filament (54) using the fan (52) such that the channel (46) directs the resulting hot air trough the passageway (26), past the blade (22), and onto the surface to be shaven immediately ahead of the blade's shaving path.
