摘要: Disclosed herein is a system for actuating a flap coupled to a wing of an aircraft in a streamwise direction. The system comprises a geared rotary actuator comprising a drive gear that is rotatable about a first rotational axis. The system also comprises a crank shaft comprising a driven gear in gear meshing engagement with the drive gear of the geared rotary actuator to rotate the crank shaft about a second rotational axis. The second rotational axis is angled relative to the first rotational axis. The system further comprises a crank arm co-rotatably coupled to the crank shaft and configured to be coupled to the flap. Rotation of the crank shaft about the second rotational axis rotates the crank arm in a direction perpendicular to the second rotational axis.

摘要: An aircraft wing (5) includes a groove (20) extending along a length between a forward extremity (22A) and an aft extremity (22B). A forward segment (24A) of the groove (20) extends upwardly to the forward extremity (22A). The forward extremity (22A) is a highest point of the groove. A flap carriage (32) is mounted to the groove (20) and displaceable therealong. A flap (10) is pivotably attached to the flap carriage (32) to define a flap pivot axis (35A) about which the flap (10) is rotatable. The flap (10) is displaceable with the flap carriage (32). An actuator (40) has an arm (44) being extendable between an extended position and a retracted position to displace the flap carriage (32) along the groove (20). The flap carriage (32) in the retracted position being disposed in the forward segment (24A) of the groove (20) and the flap (10) being rotated about the flap pivot axis (35A) to position the flap trailing edge (11B) in negative flap deployment.

摘要: A method of retrofitting a wing of a fixed wing aircraft. The method including the steps of providing an existing aircraft wing (20) with a main fixed wing portion; the main fixed wing portion having a tip end (34) and an existing movable flight control surface (30) connected adjacent the tip end. The existing movable flight control surface (30) is then removed from the main fixed wing portion, and a wing tip device (40a) and movable flight control surface (30a) are selected as a pair to replace the existing movable flight control surface, with the selected movable flight control surface (30a) having an aerodynamic surface of different shape to the shape of the flight control surface (30) removed from the wing. The selected wing tip device and movable flight control surface are then fitted to the main fixed wing portion.

摘要: An actuator comprises an input shaft 2, a sliding collar 3 arranged around the input shaft 2, and an output shaft 7. The torque-limiting device comprises one or more rolling elements 25 arranged between the sliding collar 3 and the input shaft 1 to allow the sliding collar 3 to move axially relative to the input shaft 1 and engage with or disengage from the output shaft 7.
