摘要:
A method and apparatus for exercise equipment (13) and exercise is provided. One or more exercise monitors (11) are attached to a piece of exercise equipment, and/or an exerciser. During exercise each exercise monitor measures a performance level of the exerciser, and outputs a performance level signal to a video game player. The video game player monitors the performance level of a video game character based on the performance level of the exerciser. Many exerciser performance levels may be monitored, such as pulse rate, exercise rate, distance traveled, time exercised, etc., and can be used to control such video game character performance levels as speed, striking force, energy level, lifetime, game level, etc. The video game player preferably comprises a handheld video game player (25).

A cycle type athletic equipment comprising a movable support (5) for supporting a seat (3) and a handlebar (1) at desired positions is disclosed. The movable support (5) can be tilted in a controlled manner by actuating means forward, backward and both sides to thereby be able to make high training for hardening not only the physical strength of legs, but also carpal muscle, pectoral muscle and the other muscles and developing the sense of equilibrium.

A cycle-type exerciser has a pedal shaft which drives an energy-absorbing wheel. A pair of oscillatable handlebar levers are connected by links to drive crank arms which are connected through one-way clutches to opposite ends of the pedal shaft. Osciallation of the drive crank arms by the handlebar levers rotates the pedal shaft to thereby drive the energyabsorbing wheel. A semi-recumbent embodiment has a seat and the pedal shaft at opposite ends, with the handlebar levers mounted therebetween and the energyabsorbing wheel below the seat. An upright embodiment has a saddle at one end, the handlebar levers and energyabsorbing wheel at the other end, with the pedal shaft therebetween. In the semi-recumbent and upright embodiments, the links are interconnected by an interlock lever constraining the handlebar levers to oscillation in opposite directions. The energy-absorbing wheel can be driven by the pedals only; by the handlebar levers only; or by both pedals and handlebar levers. A third embodiment eliminates the interlock lever and enables the handlebar levers to oscillate simultaneously in an optional "rowing" mode.
摘要:
A device for aerobic exercise characterised by increased user comfort, especially during extended periods of use, comprises an elongate frame including a pair of longitudinal structural members (11c, 11d,) a housing (12) enclosing the frame, and a stress imposing pedal-driven fan (17) carried by one end portion of the frame. A user supporting and positioning seat (40) is carried by the other end portion of the frame opposite the fan, and comprises a seat portion (41) inclined from front to rear at a predetermined acute angle to the horizontal, and a backrest portion (42) inclined at a predetermined acute angle to the vertical, with at least the backrest portion having ventilation openings (43) therein which communicate with the front and rear surfaces of the backrest portion. Air passages (46a, 46b) communicate with the discharge side (36) of the fan (17) and also with the ventilation openings (43) in the backrest portion and serve for directing air discharged by the fan through the ventilation openings to the forward surface of the backrest portion and outwardly therefrom whereby the air cools the user and substantially increases the user's comfort, particularly during long periods of use.
