Provided are a long structural member and a structural member complex that comprise a fiber-reinforced resin having a simple reinforced structure, suppressing increase in molded article weight, and exhibiting high mechanical properties. The lattice constructions according to the invention basically consist of tubular elements, or the elements of other cross-section, i.e. of other profile, which are made of polymer composites. Four lengthwise pipes (1) are arranged next to each other, as a rule vertically, on the plan of a rectangle, in its corners. It affects the maximal resistance of the lattice construction cross-section to the deformations caused by wind or snow and the characteristic loads, resulting from the intended use and the manner in which the construction is used. The interior of pipes (1), or the elements corresponding to them, can be filled with polyurethane foam or polymer concrete. The lengthwise pipes (1) are connected to each other with the cross braces (2), which can also be in the form of tubular elements, made of polymer composites, similarly as the lengthwise pipes (1). Most preferably the lengthwise pipes (1) are connected to each other with the cross braces (2), in such a manner that each lengthwise pipe (1) is connected to two other, adjacent lengthwise pipes (1), but never with the lengthwise pipe (1) which is located diagonally in the projection of rectangle. The spacing of cross braces (2), the angle of their inclination in relation to the lengthwise pipes (1) and the manner of their arrangement can be various and are freely selected, and in any case they result from the intended use of the construction element and its parameters. The lattice construction made in such a manner forms the modular element (3).

The present invention relates to profile with one or more portion(s) whose cross-sections are substantially U-shaped, locally provided with means of increasing torsional rigidity and potentially flexural rigidity, a load-bearing structural element of a vehicle such as a support grille of an electrical and/or hydraulic system incorporating that profile, and a method of manufacturing that profile. The invention particularly applies to such a profile that is made from a thermoplastic or thermoplastic-matrix composite material for that grille in the field of aeronautics, or for side members, cross members or structural stiffeners of a vehicle. This profile (12) comprises at least one U-shaped portion (13) that has a slot (17) bounded by two wings (15 and 16) and a core (14) and that is locally provided with means suitable for increasing torsional rigidity (18), the profile being formed of a fibre-reinforced plastic composite, those means comprising at least one cross brace (18) formed in the slot from a single part with the wings and the core. According to the invention, the wings and the core are reinforced by fibres mostly oriented in the longitudinal direction of the profile, with more than 60% of the fibres oriented in a -30° to +30° angle with that direction.

The construction element (1) has a hollow body (2) which extends along a longitudinal axis (A) and has substantially rectangular cross-section, possibly with rounded corners, and at least a first (3a) and at least a second (3b) strut element, wherein the first strut element (3a) extends from a first edge of the hollow body (2) to the second edge which lies opposite it with respect to the longitudinal axis, and the second strut element (3b) extends along the other diagonal between the associated edges. The strut elements (3a, 3b) are advantageously designed and arranged such that they absorb compressive forces but not tensile forces. A semi-finished product (1a) which has the strut elements (3a, 3b) and a tubular sleeve element (4) which extends along a longitudinal axis (A) can be arranged inside the construction element (1). The hollow body (2) and the strut elements (3a, 3b) can be fabricated completely from a fiber-reinforced plastic. A surface element (5) is also shown which has a plurality of construction elements (1) according to the invention which are arranged next to one another and are arranged between two cover elements (6, 8) in a filling compound (7). Such surface elements (5) can, for example, be used as floor or roof elements, especially when particularly high bearing capacity to dead weight ratios are required. Methods for producing the construction elements (1) and the surface elements (5) are also proposed.
