Disclosed is a method for replacing a faulty control unit in a conveying device interconnected by a bus. In logistics processes, conveying devices are used for conveying, in a fully or partially automated manner, goods to be conveyed by means of conveying segments and convey, for example, packages, pallets, merchandise and other goods from a starting point to a destination. The conveying segments are controlled and monitored by control units. When a control unit breaks down, the conveying system may come to a standstill. In order to minimize downtimes of the conveying device and keep associated economic losses low, the described method for replacing a faulty control unit in a conveying device interconnected by a bus can be used in order to ensure that a control unit can be replaced swiftly and reliably. The method according to the invention allows for the automatic identification of a fault in a control unit as well as for an initial configuration of a replacement control unit using an individual bus address or additional parameters.

An object of the present invention is to provide a conveying apparatus that increases the conveying speed of a conveyance object, and improves reliability and conveyance efficiency at low cost. Acceleration/deceleration sections (23, 27), each of which includes a plurality of variable-speed conveyance sections, are provided among constant-speed conveyance sections (21, 25, 29). The conveying speed of a conveyance object (50) is continuously accelerated or decelerated while the conveyance object (50) passes through the acceleration/deceleration sections (23, 27).
