The present invention discloses an imaging element comprising on a support (i) a photosensitive layer containing an amount of silver halide expressed as AgNO₃ between 0.6g/m² and 2.0g/m² and hydrophilic colloid in a total amount between 0.5g/m² and 2.0g/m², (ii) an antihalation substance and (iii) TiO₂ provided under the photosensitive layer of the imaging element when viewed from its photosensitive side. There is further disclosed a method for obtaining an image according to the silver salt diffusion transfer process with said imaging element. The imaging element according to the present invention is less susceptible to exhausture of the processing liquid.

A lithographic printing material comprising an undercoat layer, a silver halide emulsion layer of the internal latent image type, and a physical development nucleus layer on a support is processed by a silver salt diffusion transfer process to provide a negative transfer silver image. The material contains a specific nucleating agent, preferably in the emulsion layer. The material has high sensitivity and high resolving power and can accommodate to high illuminance light sources. The resulting lithographic printing plate has satisfactory printability.

The present invention discloses a photographic material comprising on a support a photosensitive layer containing a mixture of silver halide emulsions at least one of which is spectrally sensitized and at least one of which is not spectrally sensitized characterized in that the surface of the silver halide particles of the silver halide emulsion not being spectrally sensitized is loaded with a stabilizer having a mercapto group or the tautomeric thione group thereof such that the surface covered by one molecule of stabilizer is between 10Ų and 70Ų. The loss of speed due to migration of the spectral sensitizer from the sensitized emulsion to the non sensitized emulsion is reduced and can even be inhibited.
