Die Erfindung betrifft ein Überspannungsschutzgerät zur Installation an einem Sammelschienensystem, aufweisend ein Gehäuse mit einem bodenseitigen Kupplungsbereich zum mechanischen und elektrischen Kontaktieren an Sammelschienen, Überspannungsableitern zum Schutz von Niederspannungsversorgungssystemen, welche innerhalb des Gehäuses elektrisch verschalten sind, sowie mit einem Gehäuserücksprung, welcher an einer Gehäuselängsseite ausgebildet ist und sich im Wesentlichen senkrecht zum Sammelschienen-'system sowie im Bereich eines Gehäusedomes erstreckt, wobei im Gehäuse¬rücksprung eine elektrische Komponente anordenbar ist. Weiterhin ist die Möglichkeit geschaffen, eine Manipulationsschutz-Abdeckung oder aber eine Blindkomponente im Gehäuserücksprung anzuordnen. Ferner betrifft die Erfindung eine Baugruppe.

Provided is a lightning arrester capable of shortening the work time required when performing a withstand voltage test, and allowing the costs to be reduced. In this lightning arrester, a separation mechanism comprises a guiding conductor and a mobile rod, and switches a gap between a high-voltage side terminal portion and a high-voltage side electrode into an electrically connected state or disconnected state. The high-voltage side terminal portion has a recessed portion formed at an other-end side. The guiding conductor is electrically connected to the high-voltage side electrode inside the grounding tank, and has a guiding conductor through-hole formed in such a manner as to face the recessed portion on the high-voltage side terminal portion. The mobile rod is inserted in the guiding conductor through-hole, and is movable between one end side and the other-end side. When the disconnected state is to be reached, the separation mechanism moves the mobile rod to the other-end side, thereby bringing the gap between the mobile rod and the high-voltage side terminal portion into a separated state.

The device also has at least one connector, being arranged in an opening in the walls and including a connector body, at least a portion of which projects outwardly from the wall and which accommodates an internal coupling device, to which a transmission cable, including a central conductor and an outer shield conductor, is connectable. According to the invention, the connector body is also made of a non-conducting material and strong currents, being present at a conducting protection sleeve, are diverted by at least one conducting diversion member to at least one metallic structure, being in permanent electric contact with ground and having a high capacity of conducting strong currents. In use, the at least one conducting diversion member is in electrical contact with the protection sleeve, and extends radially outwardly from the protection sleeve, through the connector body, to the at least one metallic structure.

An external surge suppression unit provides a waterproof enclosure for both surge suppression devices and fiber optic connectors. A rack mountable surge suppression unit provides local in-line surge suppression protection for the electrical equipment located in the communication station. A unique surge suppression tray is hot swappable so that multiple surge suppression devices can be replaced at the same time without disrupting radio operation. Pluggable surge suppression modules can be used in both the external surge suppression unit and the rack mountable surge suppression unit.
