A high-resolution single-chip spectrometer is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention are analogous to Fourier-transform spectrometers; however, embodiments of the present invention have no moving parts. An illustrative embodiment is a spectrometer having a nested plurality of Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZIs), where all MZIs share at least one surface-waveguide section in each of its sample and reference arms. The light signals in the sample and reference arms are tapped at a series of discrete locations along their length via electro-optically-controlled directional couplers, which are separated by uniform-length waveguide portions in each arm, but where the uniform lengths are different in the sample and reference arms providing a different path-length difference for the arms of each MZI. The tapped light from the sample and reference arms is recombined at a low-loss beam combiner to generate a distribution of optical power as a function of time-delay difference in the arms.

A piezoelectric harvesting system using repulsion force, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises: a piezoelectric body comprising a piezoelectric material; a fixed portion to at least one surface of which the piezoelectric body is adhered; a support portion for supporting one side of the fixed portion; and a repulsion force-providing portion for providing repulsion force to the fixed portion, so that the piezoelectric body generates electric energy when the fixed portion is deformed due to application of external force and then recovered. According to one embodiment of the present invention, additional shock is applied to the fixed portion to which the piezoelectric body is adhered when recovering after being deformed, thereby increasing the amount of electric energy generated due to the deformation of the piezoelectric body.

An electrical connection powder comprising particles obtained by pulverising a skeleton of open cell metal foam chosen from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel and the alloys of same covered with at least one coating of tin or indium or one of the alloys of same. The paste is formed from this powder dispersed in a binder such as grease. The powder or paste is particularly useful for improving the conductivity of an electrical connection consisting of a terminal (20) linked to a cable (24) consisting of a plurality of strands (30, 32, 34) by means of a crimping ring (26).

[Problem] The present invention provides a method of forming a metal coating having a microstructure as well as a structural member having a metal coating formed by the method. In particular, the invention provides an advantageous method of forming a metal coating in which minute carbides are uniformly dispersed. [Means for Solving the Problem] The method of forming a metal coating of the present invention has: a first step of cladding a surface of the substrate with metal powder by laser cladding method; and a second step of forming the metal coating having a microstructure by applying a friction stir processing to the cladded region.
