    摘要： A magnetic reader which does not allow magnetic information recorded on a magnetic recording medium to be stolen by an illicit magnetic reader is provided. The magnetic reader includes: a foreign object detection section 10 which determines whether there is a foreign object near a card slot 22 through which a magnetic card 21 is inserted or taken out; a magnetic field generation section 8 which generates a disturbing magnetic field in a vicinity of the card slot 21 for disturbing a magnetic field radiated from a foreign object if present near the card slot 22; and a control section 9, 11 which determines whether the foreign object detection section 10 has detected a foreign object and which, when the foreign object detection section 10 determines to have detected a foreign object, changes the strength of the disturbing magnetic field generated by the magnetic field generation section 8.

    摘要： An object of the present invention is to trace a user who has deposited bills as counterfeit bank notes into an ATM. The ATM having a bill deposit function judges a denomination and genuineness of bills deposited by the user by a validator, extracts bill information and stores in a search DB its bill information to be matched with an account number of the user (first data). It stores, in a trace DB, bill information of bills judged as counterfeit bank notes by the validator (second data). The search DB is searched with the second data as a key to extract similar bill data for specifying, from a result, the user who has used the bills as counterfeit bank notes.
