摘要： A damping roller 20, for example for a ring spinning frame, instead of dipping into a water trough, is mounted on a hollow shaft 26 supplied with water or other liquid via a rotating joint 27. Holes 32 through the wall of the shaft allow liquid to percolate into a core 24 of absorbent material such as felt. The core is sandwiched between outer collars 22 and 22' forming a channel for the yarn, which engages the moistened core 24 and is dampened thereby. The roller 20 preferably rotates so that its surface moves in the same direction as the yarn, but at a greater speed.

摘要： A textile yarn winding apparatus having a traverse yarn guide mechanism including a yarn guide which is formed of two fingers, between which the yarn is guided when laying yarn on a flanged bobbin, the relatively leading finger in any yarn guide stroke being pivoted out of the plane of the fingers at or prior to, contact with the bobbin flange to a position clear of the flange so that the relatively trailing finger can be moved up to the flange to lay yarn closely adjacent the flange, there being detectors on said fingers for detecting the abutting of a respective trailing finger with a bobbin flange, said detectors each comprising a pivotally mounted elongate (21,21') member which has a roller (22,22') at one end for contacting a flange of a bobbin and adjustable means at the other end for displacing the actuating member of a micro-switch (50') when the elongate member is pivoted as a consequence of the roller contacting the flange, and in which the detector on one of the fingers (comprising the elongate member roller and switch) is itself mounted on a plate (46) which is pivotally attached to the respective finger, said plate being biased so as to be held at a position in which the pulley of the detector is located at, or sufficiently apart from, the inner face of the finger such that the pulley does not obstruct the pulley of the detector on the other finger, said plate co-operating with an inclined abutment (64) on the other finger such that when said other finger is raised to clear a bobbin flange the plate is pivoted so as to bring its respective detector into a position to detect the bobbin flange.

摘要： Texturising apparatus comprises a yarn feed passage 1 leading to an expansion chamber 10 formed with bleed openings 12 and in which the pressurised gas or fluid passing along the feed passage 1 with the yarn 2 expands laterally to increase the cross section of the yarn. The cross section of the yarn is then reduced again as it enters a discharge passage 16 leading to a crimp chamber 20 in which the yarn is folded upon itself under pressure. The improvement lies in the fact that the expansion chamber 10 has three or more laterally extending passageways 34 into which the filaments of the yarn are forced by the expansion of the fluid or gas, thus greatly enhancing the crimp.

摘要： Textile core material 12 passes from delivery rollers 8,10 through a rotary spindle 16 and then via take-up rollers 24,26 to a winding roller 32 to form a package 34. The spindle 16 carries a package 28 of wrapper yarn 27 which is withdrawn over-end and passes down the spindle 16 with the core material 12, wrapping around the latter to form wrap-spun yarn. Positive false twist is applied at the entrance to the spindle 16 by a false twist device 14 spaced from the delivery rollers 8, 10 by a distance A and from the take-up rollers 24, 26 by a distance B. A and B are so related that neither is less than one third of the total A + B and are preferably approximately equal to one another.
