    摘要: A hot air drier has a heat exchanger (25) for transferring heat to a first flow path (45) from a second flow path (30). The first flow path (45) has a blower unit (14) and an electrical heater (22) for pre-heating outside air and discharging it into a confined space where clothing or body drying is carried out. The humidified air is drawn out of the space and into the second flow path (30). A motor (40) controlled by a temperature or humidity detector (70 operates a pair of fan impellers (41,42) at the entries of respective passages through the heat exchanger. During a start-up phase the motor (40) is not operated and a by-pass circuit allows the blower unit (14) to re-circulate air through the confined space so that the air temperature rises rapidly to optimum drying conditions prevail.The motor (40) is then operated. The drier operates economically without discharging hot humidified air into the surrounding room.

    摘要: A heat exchanger is constructed from a heat -conductive metal foil wound backwards and forwards in sinuous fashion to provide a stack of parallel pockets (1) between neighboring sections (8) of the foil. The pockets (1) contain baffles (5,6) which guide fluid flowing through the pockets to follow a serpentine path of U, S or M shape. The serpentine path in all the pockets is substantially the same shape but the direction of fluid flow (13) in alternate pockets is opposite to the flow direction (14) in the remaining pockets. Two corner regions of the pocket stack are each provided with two manifolds (15,16) one of which communicates with the alternate pockets (1) and the other manifold communicates with the remaining pockets (16). The pockets may be formed from a single foil or from two or more foils. The manifolds may be arranged on diagonally opposite, or on adjacent corner regions of the stack.

    摘要: A gas-flow heat exchanger comprises a sinuously wound foil strip (11) providing a stack of parallel pockets (12) each of which contains a moulded plastics skeletal insert (13). The insert (13) comprises a flat rectangular frame (14) supporting within it a set of parallel baffles (15) which define a platen of passageways (16) extending between inlet and outlet openings (17 and 18) provided in the frame (14). Webs (20) lie in the medial plane of the frame and support the baffles (15). Holes and rebates (24, 25) are provided in the lower part of the insert to drain water from its interior. The foil (11) may be coated with hydrophilic material on one side.

    摘要: A refrigeration or air-conditioner circuit has an ejector (12.57) through which refrigerant is driven from a heated supply reservoir (1,2,50,51) to an unheated collecting reservoir (1,2,50,51). The ejector (12,57) sucks refrigerant from a branch circuit (16) containing an expansion valve (19) and an evaporative, heat-exchange (20) providing cooling. Valving (5,6) interchanges the functions of the two reservoirs when the refrigerant supply reservoir is empty so that operation of the circuit is uninterrupted.
