The present invention relates to a method for heterologously expressing an ornithine acyl-ACP N-acyltransferase in a microorganism, wherein the expression of the ornithine acyl-ACP N-acyltransferase protein catalyses the synthesis of lyso-ornithine lipid in the microorganism. The invention further provides for the production of an ornithine lipid in instances where the microorganism endogenously expresses lyso-ornithine dependent acyl-ACP O-acyltransferase. The invention also provides for recombinant microorganisms capable of producing lyso-ornithine and ornithine lipids which have application as biosurfactants, specifically emulsification activity.

A method for the preparation of zeolites from non-fused fly ash includes the steps of preparing an aqueous alkali hydroxyl solution and mixing the solution with the non-fused fly ash to create an aqueous alkali hydroxyl fly ash mixture, subjecting the mixture to ultrasonication and recovering the zeolites. The method may include the step of centrifuging the aqueous alkali hydroxyl fly ash mixture and washing the solid synthetic products (zeolites).
