摘要: Fabric handling apparatus comprises a table (1) on which layers of fabric may be stacked, the table being vertically movable relative to the upper run of a conveyor (2). A pickup device (3) is mounted above the table for picking up an uppermost one of the fabric layers when the table is raised to engage the stack with the pickup device. The conveyor comprises two spaced chains, and in the pickup position the fabric layers extend through space between the chains. After picking the uppermost layer the table may be lowered and the conveyor is then driven to move a support section (11, 12) of the conveyor below the pickup device and between the layer held thereby and the uppermost fabric layer of the remaining stack. Movement of the support surface completes separation of the picked layer from the stack and transport that layer to a further work station (15).

摘要: (57) A fabric pick-up device which separates single layers from a stack of fabric layers comprises a mounting plate (1) by which it may be secured to a table (2), an angled bracket (6) extending the full width of the device, and a pickup assembly (8). The pickup assembly (8) is supplied with compressed air to operate three double-acting pneumatic cylinders (20,21,22). Two pickup plates (29, 30) have on their lower surfaces needles (39, 40 respectively). Operation of the cylinders (20, 21) causes the plates to be pivoted between a standby position, a pickup position in which a fabric layer is picked up on the needles, and a release position by means of a cam plate (53). Operation of cylinder (22) causes the pickup assembly to be raised so that the fabric layer picked up may be separated from the needles (39, 40).

摘要: A tracheal tube assembly has an inner cannula (2) with an inner surface (20, 30) of a flexible plastics such as PVC to which respiratory secretions cling. The outer surface of the cannula is of a material with a lower friction than the inner surface and may be a helical filament (21) or a continuous layer (31). The machine end of the inner cannula (2) projects beyond the outer tube (1) to form a flexible portion (22) which is terminated with a coupling (23).

摘要: A tracheal tube assembly has an outer tube (1) and an inner cannula (2) with a patient end (22) that is flared outwardly to a diameter greater than the internal diameter of the outer tube. When inserted in the outer tube, the patient end of the inner cannula is deformed inwardly and forms a wiping seal. The remainder of the inner cannula (2) has an external diameter less than the internal diameter of the outer tube (1) so that it is readily inserted. The inner cannula may be coextruded with an outer layer (20) of a low friction material such as a polyolefine.

摘要: A method of setting hair which comprises treating the hair with an aqueous solution of a metal S-thiosulphato - derivative, and curing the derivative. The hair is treated at temperatures of from 15-60 o C with aqueous solutions containing Bunte salt derivatives, covered with impermeable material, and left to react at from 20-60 o C before finally rinsing off with water. The permanent setting is as good as with convenmtional thioglycollate compounds, but the noxious smells associated with the latter are absent.

摘要: Apparatus for feeding fibres, and particularly worsted fibres to a carding machine that may be a conventional worsted card or conventional cotton card. The apparatus comprises a stationary feed plate (1), a rotatable feed roller (2) and a rotatable takerin (3) for carrying fibres from the feed roller and transferring them to the surface of a carding cylinder. The surface of the takerin is furnished with pins at a pin density of not more than 36 pins per square inch (5.58 pins per square centimetre) and the distance (B) between the feed plate and the envelope of the tips of the pins on the takerin is from 0.3 to 0.75 inch (0.76 to 19.5 mm). Using this low pin density and wide spacing between the feed plate and the envelope of the pin tips effects excellent cleaning of worsted and other long staple fibre before it passes to the carding cylinder.
