A bounding area (120) is generated around the target vehicle (14) by identifying the position of one or more pre-defined features of the target vehicle (14), such as a vehicle registration plate, in an image of the vehicle environment. The machine learning model is trained with said one or more pre-defined features. The identified position of the one or more pre-defined features is used to determine the position of a lower edge portion and/or first and second side edge portions of the bounding area (120).
